TWO CLASSES REMAINING: 2017 NC Public Boating Safety Classes, Lake Norman Power Squadron, Lake Norman, NC

P/C Stuart reminds his fellow North Carolinians that if born on or after January 1, 1988, a Boater Safety class is mandatory to operate a vessel with 10 or more horsepower. See their website linked below for more information. The work done by this Power Squadron to promote boating and boating safety is outstanding.

Lake Norman Sail & Power Squadron 2017 Safe Boating Class Program:

Only Two Classes Remaining

From Steven L Stuart Executive Officer Lake Norman Sail and Power Squadron (LNSPS)
Our LNSPS is again initiating our “Boating Education Program” for 2017 by releasing the America’s Boating Class (ABC) state approved course curriculum information for your review. We trained last year over 175 students and would like to increase our goal to hopefully reach over 200 students this year. Read More!

Teaching Boating Safety to our Lake Norman area boaters is one of our Squadron’s major goals and now, at the first of the year, we need your help to “publicize” this class venue information to help make the Lake Norman area a safer and more enjoyable experience for fellow boaters and Families. Note, if you were born after Jan. 1st 1988, you are required by the State of North Carolina to have taken and passed this HABLA approved Class to operate a watercraft with a motor of 10 horsepower or more.

Notice: ABC class venue information is attached below, in word format. Feel free to use this information to “help us” get the word-out.

Lake Norman Sail & Power Squadron Announces 2017 Safe Boating Class Schedule

The Lake Norman Sail & Power Squadron (LNSPS) is pleased to announce its Boater Safety Education Class Schedule for 2017.

During 2016, the LNSPS graduated over 175 students adding to sustained recognition from its parent organization (United States Power Squadron (USPS)) for ranking in the top squadrons in the nation in service to its community.

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission requires that “Vessel operators born on or after January 1, 1988 must have successfully completed a Boating Safety Education course to operate a vessel with a motor of 10 horsepower or more.” Education Officer, Russ Klein of the LNSPS anticipates higher enrollment driven by increasing boating injuries, fatalities and law enforcement presence on the water. In addition, the population of boaters required to have taken this class grows every year, thus increasing demand. Parents and children (at least 10 years old) are encouraged to attend together.

Although we are offering the same number of classes as in 2016, we have arranged venues with increased capacity in anticipation of enrollment reaching 200 students.

2017 Class Schedule:
