Hell Gate

The Problem: Hell Gate was dredged during the summer of 2009, and for a time all was well. HOWEVER, reports starting in May, 2009 and running until May of 2012, indicate that shoaling is reappeared here, particularly along the edges of the channel. One reports places depths near marker #87 as little as 4 1/2 feet.

The Solution: Time your passage through Hell Gate for mid to high tide
