The Midtown Tunnel area is just north of Mile Zero and Scott Creek. These channel restrictions will most likely NOT affect cruiser passage.

VA ‘“ NORFOLK ‘“ ELIZABETH RIVER ‘“ CHANNEL RESTRICTIONS
SKW Constructors will conduct trial maneuvering operations for the Midtown Tunnel construction project from 17-21 and 24-26 NOV 2014. These operations will involve equipment that will impact the available width of the federal channel. The trial maneuvering operations will occur on the Portsmouth side of the channel, between the edge of the channel and the Portsmouth shoreline. Operations will take place between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
During the maneuvering operations, equipment may block up to half the width of the federal channel. In the event a vessel needs more than half the width of the channel, the vessel shall provide at least 30 minutes notice to allow SKW to move its equipment. Vessels on scene include the KENNY O lay barge, as well as 2 assist tug boats. Vessels on scene will be monitoring VHF Channels 13 and 16 at all times. Information about this project was released as a Broadcast Notice to Mariners on November 12, 2014.
