Ocean Petroleum Company is a very popular fueling stop in Brunswick, GA, whose fuel rate we regularly report in our “Georgia Fuel Prices”. Captain Jennings confirms why Ocean Petroleum is so popular. They are located on Bay Street on the eastern side of East River, just off the Brunswick River. Brunswick Landing Marina lies just a bit farther upstream on Academy Creek.

We fueled up yesterday at Ocean Petroleum in Brunswick Ga. after spending the night for free on their new 200′ floating fuel dock. The cash or cheque price was $2.93 per gallon plus 6% Georgia sales tax. There is a 3% surcharge for credit card transactions but they do take cheques.
Their dock has fresh water & shore power. Be prepared to spend the night aboard though, at this time their dock has no access to shore as the dock & bunkering station is protected by an 8′ chain link fence. Better yet Ocean Petroleum is on the way to the very big and beautiful Brunswick Marina which also sell fuel but at a considerably higher price.
Why boaters cruise by spots like Ocean Petroleum is a mystery to me. We could have fueled up at Fernandina Beach Marina on Sunday for $3.74 plus tax. That 27% price difference of $.81 per gallon worked out to $202.50 on the 250 gallons that we took on. Add to that the price of a free night on their dock and were about $250. ahead of the game because we stopped for fuel at Ocean Petroleum.

I’ve been fueling here for years and yes they do have a new floating dock that is a lot better than the previous fixed dock. However I hope that all the free loaders do not take advantage of the limited dock space and block it for the other boaters needing fuel.

Whoa, gas under $3/gallon? I didn’t think I would live to see the day! I guess I need to move elsewhere in order to see it. Cali is just too expensive’¦

Note that as of 8/1/2012, Ocean Petroleum’s price for diesel was $3.48 (cash) and $3.58 (credit). Sorry, Jack!
