[EXPIRED] LNM: Bridge Replacement, Hwy 17, Hertford, NC, Western Albemarle Sound
Waterway travelers wishing to make a side trip visit to Hertford, NC on the Perquimans River will only be able to reach the Hertford waterfront by anchoring in Sutton Creek and dinghying into town.
NC – ALBEMARLE SOUND – PERQUIMANS RIVER – BRIDGE CLOSURE
The US17 (Perquimans) Bridge, at mile 12.0, across Perquimans River, at Hertford, NC, will be maintained in the closed-to-navigation position from 8 a.m. on January 9, until 6 p.m. on March 17, 2017, to perform a bridge deck replacement project. The vertical clearance of the bridge in the closed-to-navigation position is 7 feet above mean high water and vessels able to safely pass through the bridge in the closed position may do so, after receiving confirmation from the bridge tender that it is safe to transit through the bridge. The bridge will not be able to open for emergencies and there is no immediate alternate route for vessels to pass. Mariners should exercise caution when transiting the area. Chart 12205 LNM 05/17
