Gordon Pass Inlet Channel Shoaling Again, 3/11/11 (near Naples, Florida)
Posted by Claiborne | Posted on 01-01-2010
Gordon Pass is the primary inlet for all cruising craft entering and leaving Naples and Naples Bay. This passage was shoaling badly until January of 2010 when it was dredged. Now, according to the Local Notice to Mariners item listed below, shallows are beginning to once again encroach on this important channel. The shoaling seems to be taking place near markers #1 and #2, which are the westernmost aids to navigation with number designations on the inlet channel.
All mariners traversing Gordon Inlet should proceed with extra caution!
