      This dredging is near Dames Point Bridge, west of the Waterway’s crossing of the St Johns and east of downtown Jacksonville. Traffic upstream to explore the St. Johns River could be impacted.

      FLORIDA ‘“ ST JOHNS RIVER ‘“ JACKSONVILLE: Dredge Operations
      Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company, LLC (GLDD) will commence mobilization activities on or around August 8, 2016 for Duval County Shore protection. Mobilization activities will include assembly of submerged pipeline, temporary mooring of Derrick barge, Anchor Barge, pipeline and additional auxiliary equipment in the vicinity of Bartram Island and Blount Island near Dames Point Marina.

      Equipment will be anchored and lighted within the staging area, boaters should avoid this area. Tugs will be towing pipeline rafts approximately 780ft in length by approximately 40ft in width from the temporary mooring areas via the St. Johns River to offshore of Duval County beaches. Submerged pipeline will be placed in several areas extending from offshore to the beach, from Jacksonville Beach to Atlantic Beach. Flexible floating pipeline attached to a yellow cube will be on the water’s surface. This pipeline is connected to the seaward end of the submerged pipeline. All pipelines will be marked with flashing yellow lights and orange buoys. MARINERS ARE ADVISED TO AVOID THESE AREAS. The hopper dredge M/V TERRAPIN ISLAND will commence dredging operations during the first week of September 2016 in an ocean borrow area approximately 7NM southeast of the entrance of the St. Johns River. Dredged material will be transported to the pumpout stations offshore of the project area by hopper dredge. Dredged material will be pumped to the beach through various submerged pipelines landing on the beach from Jacksonville Beach to Atlantic Beach.
      Other vessels used for project : Crew Vessel ST LOUIS RIVER, Tug LADY THEO, Tug ATLANTIC RAIDER, Tug FREE STATE, Derrick Barge 1700, Anchor Barge 114.
