[EXPIRED] Dredging to Begin at AICW/Mason Inlet Intersection, Statute Mile 280
This troublesome intersection was dredged in early 2016 (/154951) and a Nav Alert (/158529) was posted in July re shoaling here. Now, thank goodness, the intersection is to be dredged again. This good news for cruisers comes from Gareth McGrath, Staff of the StarNews of Wilmington, NC.
New Hanover to dredge part of Intracoastal Waterway
NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Crews this winter will conduct dredging of a small section of the Intracoastal Waterway across from Middle Sound, with New Hanover County picking up the tab. The work will involve cleaning sand out of the channel in and around the mouth of Mason Creek.

Mason Inlet…at half tide following a tug – G121 is very close to the docks…stay between it and the docks, G123 stay closer to the red side by the docks…I never saw less than 10’ and mostly closer to 15’ through here.
