      Dredge equipment and barge traffic between Kings Bay and the ocean disposal site will impact Waterway traffic through Fernandina Harbor.

      GEORGIA AND FLORIDA ‘“ CUMBERLAND SOUND ‘“ FERNANDINA HARBOR TO KINGS BAY – U.S. NAVAL STATION KINGS BAY:
      Maintenance Dredging Entrance Channel CUT-1N through Range E.

      Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company will conduct dredge operations in the Kings Bay Entrance Channel on approximately January 20, 2016. The project consists of excavating material from the entrance channel and disposing at Fernandina Ocean Disposal Area, Nearshore Disposal Area and pumping material to North Fernandina Beach. Dredges TERRAPIN ISLAND and LIBERTY ISLAND along with Survey Vessel DIAMOND GIRL, Tugs COASTAL DAWN and SUMMER STAR, Derrick MB1800, Anchor Barge KAZ1, Booster REGGIE and Survey/Launch Vessel DIAMOND GIRL. The Derrick Mobro1800 with assistance from the Tug COASTAL DAWN, Tug SUMMER STAR, and Anchor Barge KAZ1 will be placing submerged pipeline, floating line, and a cube assembly from the pump off location(see coordinates below) to the Fort Clinch Fishing Pier. The Booster REGGIE will be spudded down and connected to the submerged line approximately 1600ft from shore. All pipelines will be placed outside of the navigation channel. During daylight hours, a small launch vessel may be conducting survey operations perpendicular to the channel. Mariners are advised to pass the vessels stern and provide a slow bell. All unused pipe and equipment will be staged in the St. Mary’s River, east of Little Tiger Island, outside the navigation channel. Starting approximately 01 February dredges TERRAPIN ISLAND and LIBERTY ISLAND will excavate material from Kings Bay Entrance Channel at STA 250+00 to 48+242 at Naval Station Kings Bay, between St Marys River DBN 12 (LLNR 6820) and Kings Bay Light 62 (LLNR 7040) and bottom disposing at the Fernandina Ocean Disposal Area, Nearshore Disposal Area and pumping on the Fernandina Beach (see coordinates below). The vessels will monitor VHF Channels 13 & 16, 24 hours per day, 7 days a week until approximately March 31, 2016.
