Channel Restriction at the Gilmerton Bridge Update
Elizabeth River Southern Branch, Chesapeake, VA
Please be advised that the Gilmerton Bridge construction project has been delayed by approximately three weeks. This Bulletin serves to update and supersede MSIB 14-013, released on August 11, 2014 (/?p=143965). The schedule noted herein is subject to change based on operational contingencies. In the event the operational schedule set forth herein is further modified, the Coast Guard will notify the public via the Local Notice to Mariners.

Advanced notice is required per the table below for vessels transiting on the Elizabeth River in the vicinity of the Gilmerton Bridge during the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. In all cases, notice shall be given by calling the bridge tender at (757) 485-5488 or via VHF Channel 13. In the table, `Vessels ≤60 ft HC’ applies to vessels requiring 60 feet or less of horizontal clearance, while `Vessels >60 ft HC’ applies to vessels requiring more than 60 feet of horizontal clearance.

Please be advised that the Gilmerton Bridge continues to operate in accordance with the schedule set forth in 33 Code of Federal Regulations Section 117.997(c).
