      Bear Creek at statute mile 235 is the north end of the charted Safety Zone (watch for tower) through Camp Lejeune and Mile Hammock Bay at statue mile 244.5 is the south end. During the five hour or more spans listed below, you may expect to be detained before the Safety Zone or at any point in the 10 mile stretch.

      NC ‘“ ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY ‘“ MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE – SAFETY ZONE
      The Coast Guard is establishing a temporary safety zone on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AICW) adjacent to Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, which encompasses the navigable waters of the AICW between Mile Hammock Bay and Bear Creek Point in support of military training operations on:
      October 28, 2014 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
      October 29, 2014 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
      November 4, 2014 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
      November 5, 2014 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
      November 6, 2014 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. & 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
      November 7, 2014 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
      November 9, 2014 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
      This action is necessary to provide for the safety of mariners on navigable waters during this military training operation. It is intended to restrict vessel traffic on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway to protect mariners from the hazards associated with military training operations. Persons or vessels requiring entry into, or passage through, any portion of the safety zone during the above temporary closures must first request authorization from the Captain of the Port or on scene designated representatives on board U.S. Navy safety vessels. The Captain of the Port can be contacted via telephone at (910) 343-3882 or by radio on VHF Marine Band Radio, channels 13 and 16. On scene U.S. Navy safety vessels can be contacted via telephone at (910) 451-9577 or by radio on VHF Marine Band Radio, channels 13 and 16. Chart: 11541 LNM: 40/14
