Here are the programs for February at Dismal Swamp State Park.
Winter Birding Basics, Sat 02/06/2016 – 2:00pm, Auditorium
Bird-watching is fun year-round, but February is a great month to start! Learn about the different birds found in our area in winter months. We’ll cover how to ID them, what to feed them, and why YOUR participation in the annual Great Backyard Bird Count from February 12-15, 2016 is important!
Different field guides will be available for you to see and use–optional hike to follow the indoor program (weather permitting). If you have binoculars, bring them. You can also borrow binoculars from the park.
Pre-registration is appreciated but not required.

Join the ranger for a short indoor talk appropriate for all ages to learn about the many residents of the Swamp. Mounts, pelts, and skulls will be on hand for you to see.
Animals In Winter, Sat 02/20/2016 – 2:00pm, Auditorium
Animals don’t have an easy time of it during winter. People have insulated homes and heating systems to weather the cold months, but what about our wildlife? Learn about the unique behaviors and special adaptations that aid a variety of different critters in the freezing temperatures.
