Goat Island Anchorage – Navigational Detail
Posted by Claiborne | Posted on 07-15-2012
To maintain depths of 6 to 6½ feet, enter the stream flowing behind (southwest of) Goat Island by way of its southeasterly mouth (near marker #11). Cruise through the centerline, and drop the hook at any likely spot once behind Goat Island.
Cruisers also can make use of the northwestern entrance hard by marker #13, but be advised that depths between the ICW and the deeper water behind Goat Island can run to 5 feet. If this is not a problem for your particular vessel, feel free to choose whichever entrance is most convenient.
