    • [EXPIRED] Lake Okeechobee Water Levels In GOOD Shape as of Spring, 2014

clewistonapproachAs always, we sincerely thank Captains Jim and Peg Healy for this very timely report! Whenever this veteran cruising duo share information everyone at the Salty Southeast Cruisers’ Net sits up and takes notice. You an rely on data coming from Jim and Peg.
So, with that being said, looks like there’s PLENTY of water in the Okeechobee Waterway route this year, even the channel running out from Clewiston the the great lake (or the other way around), which is the shallowest part of this entire passage!
GOOD news for the spring, 2014 transient migration!

Lake “O” water levels are as good as normal fall-season levels. We crossed on Tuesday, and had no less than 7-1/2 ft. Clewiston channel is not a problem this year. Locks are operating on shortened schedule, which they blame on “sequestration:” mostly 07h00 – 19h00, but right now, “on demand.”
Peg and Jim Healy aboard Sanctuary, currently at Charlotte Harbor, Punta Gorda, FL
