We want to fill the Washington Waterfront with holiday cheer this year, so the Washington Harbor District and the Waterfront Docks are having our 1st Annual Lighted Boat Contest.
Those who want to decorate their boats and participate in the contest can come to the Washington Waterfront as early as December 3rd and stay until January 4th, and will receive free dockage and power. The boat must be decorated and lit from December 5th (which is the day of the Hometown Holiday Parade and related activities in Washington) until December 19th. The Harbor District will give prizes to the boats that best express Holiday Cheer. Full details and a link to the entry form are in the attached announcement.
The decorated boats will also be seen on the webcams for two local TV stations, and may be featured on local TV.
Space will be limited. I currently have 4 or 5 reservations and only 15 available slips. So call the Washington Waterfront Docks at 940-1231 or 944-6661 if you have questions or want to enter the contest.

Your boat must be decorated and lit every night
from Saturday, Dec. 5 through Saturday Dec. 19th

WHEN: Make arrangements to bring your boat to the Washington Docks by no later than Saturday, December 5th. Be sure it is decorated & fully lit by that evening when judging will commence.
WHERE: Washington Waterfront Docks. Fill out the form below and present to the Docks Attendants for entry. Since dock space will be limited, make advance arrangements by calling 252-940-1231
HOW LONG: Your boat must be decorated and lit every night from Saturday, Dec. 5 through Saturday, Dec. 19th. You can stay until the New Year and you will have no cost for dockage or power as long as you keep the boat decorated and lit.
JUDGING: Judging will commence the night of Saturday, Dec. 5th. Judging will span the next 2 weeks to pick the first, second and third place winners.
Boats will be judged on how festively they convey `Christmas Cheer’. `Christmas Cheer’ can be anything that makes the heart feel warmer and communicates that special feeling you only get at Christmas time.

The prizes will be great but the real reason for joining will be
the bragging rights you’ll earn for being the best on the Harbor Walk of Lights!
