LNM: Bogue Inlet Buoys Re-established, AICW Statute Mile 227


Bogue Inlet buoys were removed in May of 2017 and have now reset. Note that the Nav Aids affected are in the Inlet proper and not Bogue Inlet/AICW intersection which has been a shoaling Problem Stretch for years.

The new Bogue Inlet aids to navigation system has been reestablished and mariners are advised to consult Commander Coast Guard Fifth District Broadcast Notice to Mariners BNM 403-17 or contact Sector North Carolina Command Center (910) 343-2200 for additional guidance. Currently Bogue Inlet Lighted Buoy 1 (LLNR 29495) no longer marks safe passage for mariners and Bogue Inlet Buoy 1 (LLNR 29497) an unlighted green can buoy, has been established in approximate position 34-38-02.867N 077-06-13.528W. Bogue Inlet Buoy 2 (LLNR 29500) has been reestablished in approximate position 34-38-02.867N 077-06-13.528W to mark the entrance to Bogue Inlet. Mariners are advised to use caution while transiting this newly marked entrance to Bogue Inlet. Chart 11541 25/17
