      The Waterway/Matanzas Inlet intersection has been the site of recent groundings, see /161723, and perennial shoaling. This dredging is good news!

      FLORIDA – AICW – TOLOMATO RIVER – PALM SHORES – MANTANZAS RIVER: Dredge Operations [expand title =”READ MORE“]
      Weeks Marine, Inc. will mobilize equipment in the vicinity of Matanzas Inlet, Florida February 15, 2017. Dredging equipment (pipeline, barges, tugs
      etc.) will be anchored in a staging area bound by the following approximate positions:
      29°43’13.88″N/ 81°14’37.36″W
      29°43’9.41″N/ 81°14’35.06″W
      29°43’1.82″N/ 81°14’20.70″W
      29°42’58.83″N/ 81°14’21.99″W
      29°43’8.02″N/ 81°14’38.92″W and 29°43’13.54″N/ 81°14’41.14″W
      A combination of floating/submerged pipeline will be laid on the east side of the Intracoastal Waterway to transport the dredged material to a
      disposal area. The submerged pipeline will be removed at the completion of dredging operations.
      Starting approximately March 7, 2017 and continuing until approximately April 30, 2017 the hydraulic dredge BORINQUEN and attendant plant will
      be operating between the Matanzas River Light 81 (LLNR 39530) and Matanzas River Light 82 (LLNR 39545).
      Weeks “3301 Booster” will be located between the following approximate positions:
      29°42’14.41″N/ 81°14’5.96″W and 29°42’21.72″N/ 81°14’12.26″W.
      Beach disposal area will be bound by the following approximate positions:
      29°41’1.46″N/ 81°13’6.94″W
      29°40’26.59″N/ 81°12’53.42″W
      29°40’29.28″N/ 81°12’45.14″W and 29°41’3.60″N/ 81°12’58.39″W.
      Dredging operations will continue on twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven days per week basis. Dredge and attendant plant, will have all lighting
      for night operations and will monitor marine VHF channels 13 and 16. Mariners are urged to use extreme caution and transit the area at their
