    • [EXPIRED] LNM: Haulover Canal Bridge Repairs Update, AICW Statute Mile 869

Until repairs are completed in June, Allenhurst Haulover Bridge will be limited to single leaf operation. See photo below.

FLORIDA – ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY – TOLOMATO RIVER TO PALM SHORES – INDIAN RIVER – NORTH MERRITT ISLAND – HAULOVER CANAL BRIDGE: Bridge Repairs.
The Haulover Canal Bridge across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, North Merritt Island, Florida is being repaired. From January 30, 2017 through June 1, 2017 one leaf (at a time) of this bridge will be secured to masted navigation. Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. a barge will be working under the secured leaf. During non-working hours, the barge will be lighted and moored outside of the navigation channel. Scaffolding that hangs approximately 5 feet below low steel of the secured leaf will be installed from January 5, through June 1, 2017. Amber lights will mark the bottom and four corners of the scaffolding. Currently the south leafs are closed to navigation. The contractor will advise the Coast Guard when this operation is changed to the north leaf.

Haulover Canal NASA Bridge, 2 issues.
Only south span is open and the north span is down with scaffolding beneath the normal 27 ft air draft. Now assume the down span air draft about 22 ft. I guess.
NASA Haulover, south span only open. Caution, north span has scaffolding making air draft less by 4 feet or so.
        See you on the water…
