[EXPIRED] Maintenance Barges under Jordan Highway Bridge, AICW Statute Mile 2.8
Cruisers should not be affected by the work boat and barge congestion at the bridge, but slow speed and careful watch will be required. With a vertical clearance of 145ft, the Jordan Highway Bridge crosses the AICW at Statute Mile 2.8, near the community of Chesapeake, VA.

An engineering firm, on behalf of FIGG Bridge Managers LLC, will be performing maintenance at SR 337 (South Norfolk Jordan Bridge) bridge over Elizabeth River (Southern Branch), mile 2.8, in Chesapeake, VA and Portsmouth, VA. The maintenance will be conducted on August 29, 2016 through September 23, 2016; M-F; from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Repairs to the fendering system of the bridge will occur. A side loadable warping tug (90 ft. x 21ft. x 5 ft.) and a 21 ft. work boat will be in and around the vicinity of the bridge. During the maintenance period, the horizontal clearance will be reduced to 240 ft. Vessels who can safely transit through the reduced horizontal clearance, may do so at any time. Maintenance personnel, equipment and vessels will relocate from the navigable channel, upon request. Work vessels may be reached on VHF-FM channel 13. The project foreman can be reached at (252) 655-1243 and VHF-FM channel 13.
