[EXPIRED] Maintenance on I-64 High Rise Bridge, November 1-2, 2014, AICW Statute Mile 7.1
This maintenance of the I-64 High Rise Bascule Bridge will delay few, if any, Waterway cruisers, but mariners should still observe caution in the vicinity. With a CLOSED vertical clearance of 65ft, the lift bridge crosses the Waterway at Statute Mile 7.1, immediately north of the entrance to the Alternate AICW Dismal Swamp Canal Route.
VA ‘“ ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY (AICW), SOUTHERN BRANCH OF THE ELIZABETH RIVER TO THE ALBERMARLE AND CHESAPEAKE CANAL
Mariners are advised that the I64 (High Rise) Lift Bridge, at AICW mile 7.1, across the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River, at Chesapeake VA, will be closed to vessels requiring an opening to facilitate maintenance of the moveable spans from 12:01 a.m., on Saturday November 1, 2014 through 12 p.m. (noon), on Sunday November 2, 2014. The I64 Bridge has a vertical clearance in the closed position to vessels of approximately 65 feet, above mean high water. At all other times, the drawbridge will operate in accordance with the operating regulations set out in Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations Part 117.997(e). Mariners should adjust their transits accordingly and use extreme caution when transiting the area. Chart 12253 LNM: 40/14
