Click to learn more about our Little Loop programWe're planning on relocating to Virginia Beach VA for retirement within the next year and will need to find a new home port for Prime Time. Looking for recommendations on marinas in the Virginia Beach/Norfolk area(availability/quality/cost).

      Prime Time #3215

I lived in Portsmouth @ Tidewater Marina on Crawford pkwy from 2003 thru 2005 and was very happy. Great restaurant, nice people, access to mechanics and easy ferry ride across the water to Norfolk. On site laundry facilities and new showers were nice plus.
Vehicle parking was somethings an issue but a garage was reserved for overflow. Active waterfront activities and great location for fireworks on the 4th.

Depending the value of your boat, you may also want to consider the personal property tax rate where you'll keep your boat. Some areas in the area, Portsmouth and Hampton (I believe) don't have a personal property tax on boats. Other areas can be in the 4% – 5% range annually assessed on retail value.
