You MAY want to visit this month!
April typically kicks off our event season, and May is when we’re full steam ahead. This month is a great time to visit Washington and the Inner Banks area. Perhaps check out a quaint bed and breakfast like the Pamlico House or Elmwood 1820 in Washington’s historic district. Treat mom to a cruise on the Jeanie B, shopping spree in downtown Washington, or a painting class at Wine & Design. May is also a month to celebrate graduations. Plan a special dinner or fun night out with friends. Whatever you choose to celebrate in May, make Washington a special part of your memories.
Aurora Fossil Festival
May 27-29 ~ The annual Aurora Fossil Festival, across the Pamlico River from Washington, is a fantastic, family-friendly event. This event is held annually on Memorial Day weekend. There will be music, fossil hunting, a parade, tours, and more. Be sure to visit the Aurora Fossil Museum, the centerpiece of the festival, and have your picture taken in the jaws of a megalodon! For more information, call 252-322-4238.
Bath Fest First Port Celebration
May 28 ~ Historic Bath will celebrate becoming the state’s first port of entry with a daylong event with history, fun, and celebration. Visitors are encouraged to come early and stay late.
