    • [EXPIRED] Missing Aid to Navigation in Channel From Coffeepot Bayou to Smacks Bayou, Tampa Bay, Western Florida, October 24, 2012

Coffeepot Bayou indents the western shores of Tampa Bay, north of SALTY SOUTHEAST CRUISERS’ NET SPONSOR, St. Petersburg Municipal Marina. This interesting sidewater is home to several anchorages, all of which are linked below, and listed in our “Western Florida Anchorage Directory.
The destroyed, private aid to navigation uncharted described below in this article cherry picked from the latest Local Notice to Mariners, is actually NOT a part of the primary Coffeepot Bayou entrance channel from Tampa Bay, but rather part of another marked passage which runs along the northern and eastern banks, eventually connecting to Smacks Bayou.
Fortunately, missing #5 and its dangerous, broken-off piling will NOT affect those cruisers entering Coffeepot Bayou directly from Tampa Bay. If you try to follow the side channel from Coffeepot to Smacks Bayou, THEN you will have to worry with this problem!
