    • [EXPIRED] Missing Daybeacon 14, GIWW Statute Mile 141, 7/6/2017

This missing Waterway daymark on the east side of the Waterway is south of the GIWW bascule bridge north of the Hurricane Pass channel, which intersects the Western Florida ICW between Dunedin and Anclote Key. Hurricane Pass was formed by a violent hurricane in 1921 resulting in a seaward cut dividing what is now called Honeymoon Island to the north and Caladesi Island to the south. Depths in this pass run 4 feet or less. Our thanks to Manuel Farinas for this warning.

Missing daymark “14” on the GIWW.The marker is in the area known as Hurricane Pass and used by locals to access the Gulf of Mexico from the GIWW. This marker had heading information to Caladesi Island State Park near Dunedin, Florida. The marker is missing, some reports place parts of the marker just below the surface of the water. Use extreme caution when approaching this area.
