Film Festival — Submissions Accepted
The Gray’s Reef Film Festival will be held early February 2017 in the historic city of Savannah, GA. Student films are now being accepted for the Emerging Filmmakers Competition, and a call for poster art is underway as well. For more information, please contact Chris.Hines@noaa.gov.
Student Robotics Competition — Port Cities of the Future
The Port of Savannah, home to the largest single-terminal container facility of its kind in North America, is comprised of two modern, deep-water terminals. Garden City Terminal is the fourth busiest container handling facility in the United States, encompassing more than 1,200 acres and moving millions of tons of containerized cargo annually. To simulate the technical challenges of this maritime industry, the MATE underwater robotics (ROV) competition mission for 2017 is to build and demonstrate a robot that helps streamline port commerce, maintains entertainment systems, collects material samples for health and environmental remediation, and ensures the safety of the port and its operations.
