The Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce has several award programs throughout the year to recognize businesses from within the membership who are excelling. One of those awards is the quarterly Golden Pineapple Award.

What is a Golden Pineapple Award?? Well in colonial America the pineapple symbolized the warmest welcome a hostess could extend to their guests. We want our residents and visitors to feel a warm welcome and experience exceptional customer service as you spend time in the local business community. The Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes the importance of our small business community providing exceptional and consistent customer service. This service ensures a thriving small business community which in turn is critical to the health and vitality of our community as a whole. The Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce will reward those businesses who are providing exceptional customer service each quarter with a Golden Pineapple Award.
