Mariners are advised that the Norfolk and Western Railroad V6.8 Bridge (MM 3.6) is proposing to leave the bridge in the closed-to-navigation position due to maintenance from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and again from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the following days:

      – June 6 through June 9, 2016

      – June 20 through June 23, 2016

The bridge has a vertical clearance in the closed position of 10 feet above mean high water. During this temporary deviation, the bridge will not be able to open for emergencies and vessels able to safely pass through the bridge in the closed position may do so after receiving confirmation from the bridge tender. Mariners should use extreme caution when transiting the area. At all other times, the bridge will operate in accordance with the operating regulations set out in Title 33 Code of Federal Regulations Part 117.997(b). Mariners should adjust their transits accordingly.
NOTE: If there are any transit/schedule conflicts with these proposed work dates, please submit comments to Sector Hampton Roads Waterways Management Division, (757) 668-5580, email HamptonRoadsWaterway@uscg.mil by close of business Tuesday, May 24, 2016.
The primary field point of contact for this operation is the bridge tender, VHF 13/16, 757-898-8516 or 757-592-8068.
