    • [EXPIRED] Report from Riviera Dunes Marina Resort, on the Manatee River, off Tampa Bay

Riviera Dunes Marina Just off Tampa Bay Owned and Operated by Boaters

A SALTY SOUTHEAST CRUISERS’ NET SPONSOR!, Riviera Dunes Marina Resort occupies the Manatee River’s northern banks, just east of the easternmost of three bridges crossing the river at Bradenton and Palmetto (near charted Craig Point).

      RDMCA Members and Boaters:

The projected track of the hurricane has shifted to the west, with the most recent predictions for the eye to come up the center of the state The marina continues to move forward with securing the marina for hurricane force winds.

If you can get to the marina to inspect and prep your vessel, please do so as quickly as possible. There are still numerous vessels that need to have their canvas removed to lessen the windage. Yesterday, marina staff and numerous slip owners, tenants, and marine contractors began the task of securing all vessels with additional lines and fenders. If the marina adds lines to your vessel, you will be responsible for returning the lines back to the marina once the storm has passed. We will be trying our best to inventory all lines as they are distributed, and will remove all lines after the storm. In case lines are added to your vessel and for some reason did not get removed and returned to the marina, we would appreciate your cooperation in returning our lines.

If the county declares a mandatory evacuation of the marina area, electricity and water will be turned off to all docks. If no evacuation order is issued, we will attempt to keep electricity on until there is a power outage. We will attempt to do the same with the water service unless we have a water line failure. However, we strongly urge you to vacate the marina property before this storm.

At this time we cannot determine when staff will be available immediately after the storm passes. We will attempt to return to the marina to assess the condition of the marina and vessels as soon as it is safe to return. According to the most recent NOAA timeline, we anticipate the eye of the hurricane to be tracking north up the center of the state, due east of Bradenton between midnight Sunday – 2:00 am Monday. If all goes well we hope to have staff on site by Monday afternoon.

We will continue to update all of our boaters when we are made aware of any new developments. Thank you for your cooperation.

      Regards,
