NC ‘“ ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY ‘“ OAK ISLAND ‘“ SAFETY ZONE
Mariners be advised that the U.S. Coast Guard will be enforcing a safety zone on the waters of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway at latitude 33°55’11’ n, longitude 078°03’24’ w near Oak Island, North Carolina from 09:00am to 12:00pm and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on October 26, and 27, 2015. This action is necessary to provide safety for all mariners on navigable waters during the raising of power cables. Persons or vessels requiring entry into, or passage through, any portion of the safety zone must first request authorization from the Captain of the Port, or a designated representative. Unless the Captain of the Port previously announced, via marine safety radio broadcast on VHF marine band radio channel 22 (157.1 MHZ), that this regulation will not be enforced in that portion of the safety zone. All vessels that require 30 feet or more in height clearance are required to notify on scene coastal power and electric work boats at a minimum of 40 minutes prior to transiting the area on VHF marine radio channels 13 or 16 or via phone at 910-512-1645.
