In addition, the Deep Point Marina is convenient to Southport's shopping, restaurants and historic district, and offers easy ocean access. The Town of Fort Myers Beach proudly operates and maintains the Matanzas Harbor Municipal Mooring Field. The field boasts 70 mooring balls available for public rental year-round, and accommodates vessels up to 48 feet in length. The mooring field is located east of the Sky Bridge between San Carlos and Estero Islands in Matanzas Pass. For recreational cruisers, the Fort Myers Beach Mooring Field is a wonderful destination. Coming ashore at the Town’s dinghy dock puts boaters in walking distance to beaches, restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and public transportation. Mooring ball rental fees are $13/day or $260/month. All renters MUST register with Matanzas Inn upon arrival. The dinghy dock is available for public use to tie up dinghies 10’ or less (no overnight tie-ups). South Shore/Scuppernong River Anchorage – Navigational Detail

To enter the Scuppernong River from Albemarle Sound, set course to come abeam of the entrance’s outer channel marker, marker #1SR, to its fairly immediate southwesterly side. Once abeam of #1SR, adjust your course to the southeast and point to pass markers #2 and #2A to their immediate northeasterly sides. To maintain minimum 7- to 8-foot depths, be sure to hug #2 and #2A closely. Any slippage to the northeast can land you in 4½- to 5-foot depths.
From #2A, continue on the same course, pointing to come abeam of marker #3 to its fairly immediate southwesterly side. Upstream of #3, the channel becomes quite wide and holds 8 feet or better all the way to Columbia.
Set course from #3 to come abeam of marker #4 to its northerly side. These two beacons are 1.5 nautical miles apart, and you must watch carefully to catch sight of #4. Upriver from #4, be on guard for partially submerged snags and fishing stakes.
Cruisers choosing to anchor on the deep water southwest of marker #7 should abandon the main river channel just west of #7. Cruise carefully into the cove that opens out to the west-southwest, favoring the southern (port-side) banks slightly. Drop anchor well short of the shallows flanking the cove’s southwestern shore.
