[EXPIRED] Two Bridge Closures, October 17, 2015, AICW Statute Mile 283 and Cape Fear River
With a closed verical clearance of 20ft, the S.R. 74 bridge crosses the Waterway in Wrightsville Beach and, with a closed vertical clearance of 40ft, the Isabel S. Holmes crosses the Cape Fear River in Wilmngton, NC. Obviously, the Wrightsville Beach bridge closure will require planning for ICW cruisers.

Mariners are advised that the annual Beach2Battleship Iron and Half-Iron Triathlons are scheduled on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the S.R. 74 Bridge across the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, mile 283.1, at Wrightsville Beach, NC and Isabel S. Holmes Bridge across Northeast Cape Fear River, mile 1.0, at Wilmington, NC. The drawbridges are allowed to remain in the closed-to-navigation position at the S.R. 74 Bridge from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and at the Isabel S. Holmes Bridge from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. At all other times, the drawbridges will operate in accordance with
the operating regulations in 33 CFR Parts 117.821(a) (4) and 117.829 (a), respectively. The vertical clearances above mean high water in the closed-to-navigation position are 20 feet at the S. R. 74 Bridge and 40 feet at the Isabel S. Holmes Bridge. Vessels able to pass through the bridges in the closed-to-navigation position may do so at anytime.
