    • [EXPIRED] Three Northern Gulf Off-Shore Warnings, 11/30/2016

      These three Local Notices could possibly affect Gulf Crossings in December.

      FL – GULF OF MEXICO – DESTIN PASS – U.S. Navy Testing – UPDATECommencing December 3, 2016 and continuing until approximately December 22, 2016, the U.S. Navy will be conducting test operations in an area generally located approximately 15 nautical miles west of Destin Pass, FL. The test areas will include items on the ocean floor and/or moored near to the waters surface that are obstructions to navigation, extending from the beach out to approximate depth of 15 feet. These items will be guarded and/or buoyed while deployed for the duration of the test period. Additionally, helicopter operations will be conducted in the test area. It is requested that all surface vessels remain at least 1 nautical mile from the test area. The support/guard vessels include PSC-08, PSC-12 and/or PSC-07 or PSC-09, which will be on station in the testing area during the test events. Mariners should contact these support vessels via VHF-FM Channel 16, heed instructions given and stay a minimum of 1 nautical mile from the test vessels on station. U.S. Navy equipment has been deployed in the test area and will remain through the duration of the tests.Test area bound by the following approximate positions;30-23-12N 086-47-38W (30°23.2002N / 086°47.6334W, 30.38667 / -86.79389),30-23-01N 086-49-40W (30°23.0166N / 086°49.6668W, 30.38361 / -86.82778),30-21-44N 086-49-28W (30°21.7332N / 086°49.4664W, 30.36222 / -86.82444) and30-21-57N 086-47-18W (30°21.9498N / 086°47.2998W, 30.36583 / -86.78833).Charts 11382, 11385 LNM 48/16FL – GULF OF MEXICO – Wreck (Adrift)A 42-foot F/V has been reported adrift in the Gulf of Mexico, in approximate position 29-16-36.0N 084-22-54.0W (29°16.6002N / 084°22.9002W, 29.27667 / -84.38167), on November 19, 2016. The wreck is reportedly not marked. Mariners are urged to use extreme caution in the area and report any findings/sightings to their nearest U. S. Coast Guard unit. Charts 1114A, 11400 LNM 48/16FL – GULF OF MEXICO – WreckThe 38-foot F/V MARION J has reportedly sunk in the Gulf of Mexico, in approximate position 29-13-06.0N 085-39-06.0W (29°13.0998N / 085°39.1002W, 29.21833 / -85.65167), on November 23, 2016. It is not known if the wreck sunk in this position or drifted off and sank. Mariners are urged to use extreme caution in the area and report any findings to their nearest U.S. Coast Guard unit.Chart 1115A 11360 LNM 48/16
