Lake Norman Sail & Power Squadron Announces 2018 Safe Boating Class Schedule
The Lake Norman Sail & Power Squadron (LNSPS) is pleased to announce its Boater Safety Education Class Schedule for 2018.
During 2017, the LNSPS graduated over 120 students continuing sustained recognition from its parent organization (United States Power Squadron (USPS)) for ranking in the top squadrons in the nation in service to its community.
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission requires that “Vessel operators born on or after January 1, 1988 must have successfully completed a Boating Safety Education course to operate a vessel with a motor of 10 horsepower or more.” Education Officer, Russ Klein of the LNSPS anticipates higher enrollment driven by increasing boating injuries, fatalities and law enforcement presence on the water. In addition, the population of boaters required to have taken this class grows every year, thus increasing demand. Parents and children (at least 10 years old) are encouraged to attend together.
Although we are offering fewer classes then in 2017, we have arranged venues with increased capacity in anticipation of enrollment reaching 200 students.
2018 Class Schedule:
Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (Parish Activities Center), 537 N Highway 16, Denver, NC 28037
Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Mt Zion United Methodist Church (19600 Zion Street, Cornelius, NC).
Cost is $45.00 ($25 for those sharing a student manual) which includes the Student Manual, classroom instruction, exam, certificate, laminated photo ID, reporting & archiving course completions and lunch. Registration will commence on February 8, 2018 and early signup is encouraged due to space limitations.
All classes run from 8:00am to 5:00pm

Hi Larry,
For the last 5 years in a row our Lake Norman Sail and Power Squadron has received the Distinguished Education Award given to our Squadron from our Parent organization United States Power Squadron that is given only to 3 Squadrons a year of over 34,000 members and 345 Squadrons in the US.
