The Abacos are great! Green Turtle Marina Club in Green Turtle Cay (White Sound) is a nice place to stay. They exchange your dock fee (not electric or water though) for restaurant/bar expenses. 90¢ per foot. I believe until the end of March when they get busy.
In Elbow Cay we stayed at Hope Town Marina right in Hope Town Harbor. Our weekly rate was 50¢ plus electricity and water. The marina is a little rustic, however, it is in paradise. Rudy and his son were very warm and accommodating. We even had free internet service most of the time while there. It was a short dinghy ride across the harbor to town through the many boats moored in the harbor. Three grocery stores in town. (If you visit here though bring as many veggies as you can store or go with frozen if you have room. Don¹t expect much from fresh produce in the Bahamas. Expensive too). Sometimes you can find fresh bread. Lots of deals at marinas before the busy season starts end of March.
Food and drinks out… Expensive. Bring your own beer and other drink supplies. Hope Town Harbor Lodge was great for fine dining or lunch at the pool bar. We also enjoyed Captain Jacks right downtown for burgers and appetizers.
It is worth a trip up into the light house, which was right by our marina. Great views of the harbor for picture taking. The History museum downtown was interesting.
Hope Town is extremely picturesque and charming. This is a place we will want to return to in the future. Three weeks is not enough time for the Bahamas. We have to be back in the states for a wedding March 18th so we are currently in Green Turtle Cay, Black Sound heading back up to the West End to wait for the good day to cross.
