      Hello!

The holiday season is officially upon us.

Thanksgiving turned to black Friday and the holiday rush is on us! Here in Edenton, the holiday season is filled with a combination of beloved local traditions that have stood the test of time, and new exciting things introduced in the last few years.

      December 1

Today! Downtown stores will have extended hours, beautiful Christmas decorations, and surprises during Edenton’s annual sip & shop! 5-8 PM. This is the perfect opportunity to grab a unique gift from one of our many downtown stores tonight. There’s so much to see and explore.

      December 2

Santa comes to town! Friday, December 2, Santa comes to town. He’ll be leaving his reindeer back at the North Pole, where it is still cold. Instead, he’ll be making his arrival on Edenton’s historic fire truck.

Santa’s arrival culminates one of the best events of the year in Edenton as students from Countryside Preschool, White Oak Elementary School, D.F. Walker Elementary School, and The Boys and Girls Club perform Christmas carols and the mayor lights Edenton’s famous Christmas tree.

      December 3

Christmas Kicks-off Saturday, December 3! Food trucks start at 4:00 pm in the Barker House parking lot and children’s inflatables and balloon animals begin at 4:00 pm. Additional fun includes cooking decorating, cotton candy machine, hot cocoa, mini donuts, and more!

BYOB: Bring Your Own Blanket! Storytime and crafts with the Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library starts at 4:00 pm. More details to come.

The night culminates with the Flotilla Boat Parade at 6:15 PM. The Kick-off to Christmas will get even the biggest scrooge excited for the season!

      December 4

The Albemarle Chorale presents this year’s Christmas Concert at Edenton United Methodist Church on December 4. The title of the concert is “Star of Wonder” and the chorale will sing the cantata, “The Star of Bethlehem” by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger along with all your favorite Christmas carols.

      December 9-10

The Christmas Candlelight Tour is one of Edenton’s most popular attractions, drawing both residents and visitors year after year. Annually, for the past 41 years, the tour selects a section of downtown Edenton to showcase the historic homes in their holiday splendor.

Tour goers are invited inside the tour’s different stops to marvel at the homes of the 18th and 19th Centuries. For a truly authentic experience, take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the town and admire the twinkling lights.
