Dismal Swamp Welcome Center Update, AICW Alternate Route

The Dismal Swamp Route departs the southbound Waterway at MM 7.2. Your southbound alternate is the Virginia Cut through Great Bridge, VA. Our thanks to Sarah Hill for this report from Dismal Swamp Welcome Center, A CRUISERS NET SPONSOR!
Update as of 3:30pm 4/27/22- The Dismal Swamp Canal Welcome Center, Rest Area and dock are open and operating normally. The dock is available for boating traffic and restrooms are open 24/7. The USACE and lock masters have been updated and relaying info to those traveling the Dismal Swamp Canal.

In a few days we will have to make a choice of route to go north. We read many bad comments about the canal (debris, trees..) Do they are exagereting?
