FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IN PINELLAS COUNTY ANNOUNCES COVID-19 VACCINE REGISTRATION METHODS |

Per the executive order issued by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County will begin distributing COVID-19 vaccines to those 65 years or older starting Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021. Due to the limited supply of vaccines arriving in county and the need to distribute these to those 65 years or older in an orderly fashion, registration will be required for those wishing to receive a vaccination. No vaccines will be administered without a registration. The registration process will begin at noon on Monday, Jan 4. |

To register, residents should: - Click the “Register Here” link below to complete an online registration
- For those without internet access, call (727) 824-6900, option 4 for assistance. Please be advised there may be an extended wait time.
- Residents are encouraged to print and complete the consent form from the website in order to receive the vaccine. Paperwork will be available upon registration.
- Vaccines will be administered at the Health Department offices. Those receiving vaccines will be asked to wait for 15 minutes after the shot to monitor for potential adverse effects.
- Information about how to receive the second dose of the vaccine will be issued at the time of the vaccine.
Those registering to receive a vaccine must bring a form of identification with their birth date indicating that they are age 65 or older and agree to be in Pinellas County to receive their second dose of the vaccine in 21 days. Those who are unable may be excluded from receiving the vaccine. The Department has identified the following locations where vaccines will be administered: |

| Please recycle your Christmas tree. Trees will be chopped and processed into mulch then made available to residents at the Neighborhood Center located at 1617 49th St. S. For more information, call (727) 893-1089. To prepare your tree for recycling: - Remove all decorations, including hooks, garland, tinsel and lights.
- Place tree at curb or alley for regular Wednesday yard waste pickup.
- Do NOT bag or place tree in can.
- For multiple-dwelling units, place your tree near the dumpster without blocking access to it.

The Gulfport Public Works Department located at the 49th Street Neighborhood Center (1617 49th St. S.) is now an official collection site for rechargeable batteries! Only batteries weighing 11 lbs. or less, and cellphones (with or without their batteries) are accepted. The Call2Recycle program does not accept wet cell batteries. |

City of Gulfport Annual Paving of Roadways On Monday, December 14, the City of Gulfport initiated its annual paving of roadways. Asphalt Paving Systems Inc. was the awarded contractor who will be milling and repaving the streets. The milling operation consists of removing approximately 1½ to 2 inches of old pavement and replacing it with new asphalt. This paving program prioritizes streets to be resurfaced based upon the condition of the asphalt. It is anticipated that there will be some interruptions to the regular flow of traffic where these paving projects will take place. Those interruptions will be appropriately marked with signs to alert motorists, and residents in these areas impacted will receive adequate notice prior to the project commencing. Motorists are asked to use caution as they travel through these construction zones. | Catch A Ride With GEMS The Gulfport Extended Mobility Service (GEMS) run thru the Senior Center has resumed limited, essential transportation services to grocery stores, medical appointments, etc. Any Gulfport residents 55 & older or residents with a disability can take advantage of GEMS door to door service for a yearly membership of $70 plus $2 per ride.
