[EXPIRED] Join the Conch Republic Celebrations this April at Key Lime Sailing Club, Key Largo, FL
|
“We Seceded Where Others Failed” With activities ranging from arts and crafts shows, the world’s longest parade, and more, to a lighthearted sea battle featuring tall ships, the Conch Republic’s 10-day birthday party showcases the independent and eccentric spirit that characterizes Key West and the Florida Keys. So, what are the circumstances that led the Keys to “declare” war on the United States? Our very own Capt. g, who was a resident of Key West back in 1982 when all of these events transpired, shares his experience on our blog page. We highly recommend checking it out for some very interesting bits of Florida Keys history! |

Sean, your history is correct, but just not up-to-date; all of the keys north of Key West are the "Northern Territories of the Conch Republic". After all, the fed's roadblock that started the revolution took place on the mainland at the Last Chance Saloon. Besides, isn't it all really a state of mind?

Little disingenuous to try to describe Key Largo as part of the Conch Republic. That would be Key West, and only Key West, if you know your history. I guess anything goes when promoting a business.
Sean, you are correct. But you most likely know that most of real “Conchs” who live in the “Keys” feel very much apart of this “Republic”. They’ve all surrendered in mind, body, and spirit, wtih the help of a bottle of Rum… Let the celebrations begin no matter where you are !!
