      This 65ft, 59ft during painting, high-rise fixed bridge was begun in April of 2014 and will cross the Waterway just south of the two new high-rise bridges at Socastee. See /135939 for background on this bridge. Our thanks to Officer Justin Heck for this notice.

      MSIB 56-18 UPDATE 2: SC-31 Bridge Painting, Socastee, SC
      UPDATE 2: The contractor responsible for constructing Carolina Bays Parkway (SC-31) located in Socastee, SC will continue to work on the underside of the bridge structure directly over the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AICW) near mile marker 372.3. The duration of the project has been extended. The expected completion date is March 8, 2019. All work will take place Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The vertical clearance may be temporarily reduced by 6 feet under the portion of the bridge being painted. The work area can be quickly moved to allow the passage of larger vessels if needed.

      Mariners are urged to plan transits accordingly to avoid unnecessary disruptions. For more details, please contact Robbie Higgins at (720) 470-9666.
