[EXPIRED] LNM: Waterway Dredging to begin, Sawpit Creek, FL AICW Statute Mile 730
This section of the Waterway south of Fernandina Beach, FL through Sawpit Creek is frequently shoaled and was last dredged in November of 2013. As noted below, keep a close watch for dredging equipment as you cruise through Sawpit Creek and be sure to proceed along at idle speed!
FLORIDA – AICW – ST SIMONS SOUND – TOLOMATO RIVER – SAWPIT CREEK: 12- Foot Dredge Project
Southwind Construction will commence dredge operations November 26, 2018 until approximately April 1, 2019 in the AICW Nassau-Duval Counties, Cuts 24, 25, 26, 27, 27A and 27C with fill placement to F.I.N.D. Upland Disposal Area DMMA DU-2 and Amelia Island. Submerged and floating pipeline associated with dredging operation; use extreme caution in the area. Mariners are urged to transit at the slowest safe speed to minimize wake, and proceed with caution after passing arrangements have been made. Pipeline and vessels will be visibly lighted. While working in
Cuts 27A, & 27C, submerged pipeline will be positioned from the active dredging area along the east shoreline of the AICW to the Amelia Island Beach Fill Placement Area. In all other locations, the submerged pipeline will traverse along the landward edges of Sawpit Creek to upland placement area DMMA DU-2 in addition to the Amelia Island Beach Fill Placement Area. DMMA DU-2 is located immediately adjacent to Sawpit Creek at Black Hammock Island. Operations will run 24/7the Dredge WILKO and workboats PROUD MARY and MISS LEANNE will monitor VHF channels 13 and 16, working channel 78.
