Stayed here April 7 -8, 2012. We have friends here and tied up near the end of the pier, close to the trees on the cigar-shaped island that separates the marina from the canal. If you react to no-see-ums as my wife does, use muchas bug spray.
This marina has fixed docks but there is no tide here thanks to NASA who built a lock system to keep the sea off their property.
Manatee frequent the marina and gators and sharks have been spotted.
Watch your speed as you approach the Christa McAuliffe Bridge, (the tenders offensively call it the “Rt 3 bridge” saving 3 whole syllables). The tender might scold you and tell you that you are too late for the opening for which you were on time. She also doesn’t seem to monitor 9 until you are approaching and scold you for not calling sooner.
There is a friendly group of live-aboards here and dock parties happen frequently.
Currently, they are running a $0.75 per night (two nights only) special.
Harbortown Marina is one of the nicest marinas around. That being said, there’s not much to see or do on the waterways around there. We live close by and cruise the barge canal regularly. Nautical spirits bar and restaurant is great for dinner, but there is nothing else around within walking distance. There is a Publix about 5 miles down the road, and a Wal-Mart about 8 miles, if one wanted to cab it. Or you’re about 10 minutes from the beach at Jetty Park from there as well. Too bad there’s only a couple of more shuttles to launch, because this is a great area to watch from. If you get a chance to see one in the next month or so, don’t miss your chance.
Really liked the welcome at Harbortown Marina. They had a special of $.85/foot in November, for up to two days, then $1.00/foot. Very protected. Nice restaurant on site. Not close to any shopping, though, and no courtesy car. HB Koerner Take Five
Subject: Banana river Message: Don’t know if you will want to post this or not, but we just came thru the Banana River from Harbortown Marina to Vero Beach. Harbor Town is a remote nice, inexspensive Marina, whith reasonable fuel rates. Paid $3.63 plus tax, and $1 a foot for transient.Has a nice bar/resturant on property. Beyond that, There isn\’t much I can say about the Banana River. It\’s wide, nothing to see, nowhere to go, and shallow, very shallow. and ill marked. Just about the best fuel prices on FL east coast are at Harbortown Marina, mm 894 on the ICW, just north of the Cocoa bridge. Turn east off the channel onto the Canaveral Barge Canal and run 2 1/2 miles to the marina on the south shore. $1.00/ft dockage with BoatUS. Claiborne, In response to your request for NE Fl/GA wish list here is Palm Cove Marina: We took a slip at Palm Cove on March 21 on our way north from Marathon on our 37′ sailing vessel. The entry from the waterway is well marked, we saw depths of 7′ or more at mid-tide and we had help for an easy tie on a face dock along with one other cruiser just back from the Bahamas. This is a large marina with many empty slips when were there. It was a pleasant evening, but I would expect it to be well protected back here in a blow. We did not use the shower or onshore head, so no comment. Within easy walking distance of the marina is a large Publix, several banks and drug stores and a Starbucks. We had dinner at the Marker 32 restaurant which was only 50 yards from our boat. This is a moderately upscale place with many good seafood choices which we favor, but other good choices as well. The entry channel into Palm Cove Marina is well marked but narrow and shallow — less than 5′ at low tide. The facilities are top-notch, however, and docking is a breeze. Do not miss eating at Marker 32 — expensive and worth every penny. Captain Mary Intermezzo

We came to Palm Cove Marina a week ago and we will be here for another week. Have been here several times before. The service is consistenly great. Friendly and helpful staff. We stopped by at palm cove in my 38′ tug on our way down to the keys. We had no problem entering the channel and the fuel dock and pumpout were easy to get to. The staff was excellent with helping us dock and gave me a t-head on C-dock, which was very easy to leave in the morning. Clean restrooms and showers plus good food nearby. We enjoyed our stay and will definately plan on stopping back there on our way back home.
As a new cruiser to the cruising community,I found PCM a great place to stay. I have a 42 Whitby Ketch that draws 5′. I had no problem getting in to the Marina. I requested a deep slip, so the Dockmaster found me one @ slip D-14. I only wanted to stay for a day, but these people working here were throwing a Christmas party not to miss. What a blast! I found this place different as the Dockmaster lent me his SUV to run some errands. I needed some parts as well as I had to buy a small toy for their party. They also suggested I check out Marker 32 which they provided a nice Coupon for as well.
Stayed at Palm Cove last night (28 OCT 10). Entered an hour after high tide with a 5’3 draft – the channel was no problem – and was docked on their “S Dock” (just past their fuel dock). Great staff and facilities – HOWEVER… from mid-to-low tide Retriever was sitting on the bottom. At low tide so much so that she actually listed slightly. Luckily today’s run was a short trip to St Augustine so I didn’t have to leave at first light (as usual) and I had to wait until 11am (low tide being at 0800) to even get off the dock. Just FYI…

Last night, we stayed in Jacksonville Beach at Palm Cove Marina. We arrived at dead low tide and had about an inch under us in their channel as we very slowly approached. Our draft is 5′. Showers were clean and spacious. Pool looked inviting, but too chilly to try it out. After an invigorating walk to Publix to restock the frig, we enjoyed one of our best dinners of the entire trip at Marker 32 Restaurant next to the marina. Florida pompano and Florida shrimp and grits were great. Service was terrific too. Ask for Tiffany or Steve.
Stopped for fuel at Palm Cove Marina just north of the bridge. We entered at low tide with a solid six foot draft. Eased over a few mud spots but really no problem. Fuel price was as promised and dock assitance was cordial and effective. Ed Grygent

Encountered some electrical problems with generator and AC en route to S. Florida. Called Camachee Yacht Yard in St. Augustine and was connected to its president, Peter Sabo. He arranged for me to have service the next day. Technician arrived at boat right on time and quickly resolved both problems. Entire staff could not have been more helpful and competent, and rates were very reasonable. High praise for Camachee Yacht Yard at Camachee Cove Marina!
Stayed three nights. Very protected marina. Staff was very helpful. One of two courtesy cars were always available for short trips into town or the nearby Publix. Clean restrooms and showers. BoatUS discount was a plus. Saw a sea turtle swimming around my boat one day and a manatee getting a drink of water.

Camachee Cove has the best weather protection and also a very good marina. There is a new Publix grocery store just over the bridge in Vilano, making provisioning a snap if you’re staying here. We stayed 3 nights at Cammachee Cove marina in December 2012 and found it to be just as first class as our previous stays. They are always very responsive on the radio with docking instructions and their dock hands are very helpful. We stayed at Commanchee Cove in very early January (Southbound) and again in early April (Northbound). It is still a very well managed facility with two courtesy cars available for use for 1 hour at a time, a very good bar/restaurant with traditional seafood plus very good sushi, and excellent repair services on site provided by both Commanchee Yacht Yard for haul and First Mate Yacht Services for in water repairs/service. Dock and office personnel are friendly, courteous and professional. The physical facilities are still very good but not as pristine as they were several years ago. Howard Rockness Sequel

Stayed at Camachee Cove Harbor Marina at MM 775.5 on 6-20-12. Very nice and the dock master and hand were right on the spot to help us tie up. Fuel 3.99- valvetech- with 5c/gal with Boat US. 1.76/ft with Boat US and 14 for 50amp. Very easy entrance. Ate at the Kingfish Grill on other side of the marina and it was great. I had the Sampler appetizer and bowl of new England chowder. Fantastic. Other had fish and chips and had to put some in a box. Great service and nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back – especially since so close to the town of St Augustine and all the attractions there. Excellent Verizon – phone and wifi. When ldeft this morning, had to turn right around—bad injector. Billy at Camachee Yacht Yard was very knowledgable and got us going again. Charlie on board Wanderlust.

During our adventures we have spent 3-5 months all told at Marineland, 15 miles South of St. Augustine. Marina looks brand new, Dolphins swim inside the cove, 2 free tickets to see the Marineland scientific research center across the street. If memory serves me cost is $1.25 a foot for a monthly stay. Such an awesome little marina! Very nice staff, helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. Even provided a loaner car for a run to the Public. Beach is just a 2 minute walk!! Quiet, and deserted, we had it to ourselves! Can’t wait to stop back in the Spring!

Bad weather forced us in to Daytona and up ICW as we were heading north after wintering in the Keys. Stayed at Marineland as we are familiar with it. Eric and other staff are super, from tying up to helping us visit Publix which is about 5 miles away. We had to stay 3 nights due to storm but there is no better deal on the ICW. We stayed two nights at this little marina after leaving St. Augustine in January. Although w have had lots of helpful folks at many marinas, these guys win the prize for the most helpful. As rookies we needed all the help we could get, especially getting into tight places. It is a pretty spot to walk around, and they took folks into town once a day to get groceries. We got a free pass to the marineland center as well. The marina and the surrounding environment was very clean, and they sponsored kayak nature excursions. Claiborne, We spent some time in Marineland Marina recently and found them to be exceptional people. If they didn’t know your name by the time your dock lines were secured, you probably stayed inside for that docking. This is a small marina but lots of helpful people. It is well protected in winds and storms. When we experienced a medical emergency, the staff did everything possible to make a bad situation as good as anyone could expect. We love Marineland Marina. Everyone there is most helpful and makes sure you have everything you need. They will lend you a car to provision at Publix and get supplies at the hardware store. The bathrooms are kept clean and tidy, laundry is free, and you even get discounts on Marineland tours and kayaking ecotours with Ripple Effect. You can walk in the maritime forest, cross the street to a beautiful deserted beach, and hear the ocean from your boat. Dolphins come and feed each evening in the marina basin. We were one of the first boats to stay there when they reopened. The two staff guys are amazingly great. We have been there several times now and at $1/ft, given the location, it is tone of the best deals going. Just across the street is the beach, Marineland itself where you can see dolphins and a snack bar. Provisions are difficult to obtain but sometimes Eric’s car is available, even though it is not the marina’s courtesy car (it is his personal car) he often is seen loaning it out. If you borrow it,please fill it up for him. Also, dink across the waterway to see one of the largest protected lands in all of the USA where you can see all kind of critters. Also, at Marineland, they have a group that will take you over on kayaks. This is an example of if marinas do not overcharge, they will always have business. As we have traveled FLA these past two years (from our home port in NC), we see many empty marinas that are charging $2 or more and have few boats in them. John Winter
We spent a week at this facility on our way south and are spending a month here on our way north. Chris, the dockmaster, and his staff are friendly, helpful and go out of their way to make cruisers feel welcome. It’s the kind of place where cruisers may stop intending to stay for a day or two and end up staying much longer. There are beautiful beaches, walking trails and mangroves to explore by dinghy. This is a marina for nature-lovers — there are no restaurants within walking distance and nothing to “do” other than enjoy the natural surroundings. Dockage rates are a steal — $1.00/foot per night and tempting rates for weekly or monthly stays. If you draw more than five feet, however, getting into and out of the marina would be difficult. Stayed a week when sickness appeared. Great place to recuperate, about 5 miles to Publix which is OK with bike, nice ride (they offered transportation but I wanted the exercise). We plan on staying a week this spring when headed back north and will visit Marineland again. Chris and Eric were fantastic with help and advice, just like last year. (Free laundry during business hours) and wi-fi was better this year (DSL), could use PC without external antenna but IPAD couldn’t connect. I took some long walks on the trails but we did not take the nature tours due to the sickness. Planning on kayak and nature tours next spring. Definitely stop if you have a day or two to chill!
We stayed at Marineland on our way down the ICW in October. Beautiful place. Very nice people. The beach is across the street. Nice hiking or biking trail. The ecotour is wonderful. The guides have great knowledge and love what they are doing. The dolphins at Marineland are well taken care off. They have a lot of interactive programs with the dolphins. If you look for a lot of action this is not the place to stay. If you love nature and some quiet time you have to stop. We were going to stop for a night and stayed for 10 days. If it was up to me, I would probably still be there. Claudia Young

One marina that we’re familiar with that puts you 200 yards from the ocean is the relatively newly opened Marineland Marina between St. Augustine and Daytona (http://www.marinelandmarina.com/). Cruising News: We left Jacksonville eager to get to Marineland Marina after all the great reviews on Cruisersnet. After dealing with a small mechanical issue, I hailed Eric at Marineland to let him know we were running late. His response was, “no problem, safe travels”. This is Friday evening near closing time, no less. Long story short, we made it safely and Eric provided outstanding service all weekend. A 20,000 acre estuary across the ICW, UF Marine Science facilities on site featuring a crystal clear ocean species “pond”, a beautiful, secluded beach across the street, and clean, uncrowded facilities are just a few of the highlights. We just left our Pearson 424 “MOJO” at Marineland for a month while I came back to our yacht brokerage to catch up on things. Chris and his staff can’t do enough for you. The facilities are absolutely spotless. Enterprise will bring you a rental car and St. Augustine is just a short drive if you want to do the tourist thing. This nice stop about 35 miles north of Daytona and 20 miles south of St. Augustine was reopened during this past year with all new docks and facilities. The beach on the Atlantic is just across the road as is the Marineland Dolphin aquarium. There are hiking trails and eco tours on kayaks. Dockage is only $1 / ft and there is a 50% discount on electric with Boat US. And the laundry and pump outs are free !!!! There is no fuel and no stores nearby, but if you enjoy being removed from it all and like nature, this is a great stop, with floating docks and 22 transient slips. We stopped for a day and stayed 5 weeks! The marina facilities are always clean, the staff is cheerful and knowledgeable, whether you are tying up in a cross breeze, or taking a Ripple Effect Kayak tour into the hammock across the ICW. The ocean and new Marineland right across the street make your stay really enjoyable. Great rates, free laundry and pump-out, and a courtesy car are also available. Come one, come all! We loved it. Marineland is a magical place! We draw 6ft and have no problem. The heads are spotless. Free laundry. Free WiFi. You can hear the ocean from the boat at night. If you need a ride, the staff will loan you their car. The price is right. Lots to do if you like nature, exploring by dingy or kayak or time at the beach.
Just wanted to echo everything Marc and andree said, marineland marina is a great facility, we too dropped in for a day or 2 and are now staying a month. The beach is beautiful and this stretch of the ICW is unspoiled and borders a huge nature reserve with many creeks to explore by dinghy and plenty of wildlife to see. Can’t recommend it enough. I arrived at Marineland Marina a month ago for what I thought would be few days. Why? What happened to my migration south? Maybe I should not tell you this ; I worry you all make this change… I tell you this as it comes to my mind, no particular order, nor by importance: – It is clean, perfectly clean. – It is new, brand new marina – Prices are VERY affordable. In fact, on a monthly basis, it is MUCH cheaper than moorings you will find in St-Augustine, even for bigger boats. – Free (yes as in 0.00$) laundry – Staff is great. They all go further than expected to make sure you like Marineland Marina. I know first hand. – Marineland Marina is across the A1A road to a beach, large, miles long, and super quiet. I go there everyday for a walk and most of the days I am alone / or we are 3 or 4. In fact on this few miles beach stretch the most people I saw were 6!!! This is rare in Florida, rare in USA, just rare everywhere. – A1A route is super quiet here. Except Marineland and few houses for rent, there is not much around – Bike path on this A1A stretch (5 miles north, 5 miles south) is very wide and secure and quiet! – Many parks and reserves at walking distance Other info: – The Publix is about 4 miles away – Many restaurants deliver to Marineland Marina – You can visit Marineland, the other side of the street – They organise kayak tours, right here at the marina – Nice restaurant / bars at bicycle distance – Be sure to mention to Chris the draft of your boat. Most slips are more than 6 feet but some (3 or 4 slips) have less than 5 feet mlw. – They have nice floating docks for transients. – Pet friendly marina How come it is not more known? what a gem – stay if you can! it is inexpensive ($1/f,t,) peaceful, beautiful, alive with wildlife, across A1A from the beach and the Marineland dolphin research facility. Super dockmaster, Chris Kelly, is helpful, friendly, and knowlegeable. if you like wild and peaceful surroundings, with up to date facilities, do NOT miss the opportunity to stay at Marineland Marina.
We planned to stay one night and ended up staying a week. This is not a place for provisions but has a lot to offer. There is the Marine Land dolphin rehab across the street and a nature trail just south. You can hear the surf from your boat, walk the beach. Nice docks but shallow at low tide. Chris is a great harbor master. Peaceful and pleasant. We will be back.
Echo the comments 10/15/11. Stayed for one night, left St. Augustine headed south and arrived about noon. Enjoyed the marine center, had a personal tour of the facilities at Marineland, it was not crowded. Got some great pictures of Dolphin training, jumping etc.
WiFi did not work on boat without an external stick where we were put. Walked back trails and across A1A where there is a nice beachfront park. We intend on stopping for a week on our way back north for the beach in the spring. With the hatch open, the sound of the surf put me to sleep.
We just want to let those of you passing through northern Florida know about a new marina which we stayed at last night.
We’ve been passing Marineland at mile 795 for years (by boat and car) and always wondered if the basin there would ever open as a marina; we were told by a cashier at the newly-opened Marineland Education Center (the dolphin, etc, display) a couple of years ago that it wasn’t going to ever open as a marina.
Well, all that changed this past August when the Marineland Marina opened with all new facilities, a long floating concrete dock, fixed docks, heads, free laundry and free Wifi. 30 amps shore power was $3.00 with a Boat/US discount (show your membership card).
The beautiful beach and Marineland is a short walk across route A1A. The GEORGIA aquarium is involved in the education center and kayak tours originate from the marina.
We stayed only overnight as we are on the way home to Merritt Island, but if you don’t live in the area you should consider staying long enough to visit the Marineland Education Center (see the new dolphin calf).
The cost is extremely reasonable, but there are no commercial restaurants, etc, within walking distance. It is, however, a beautiful, quiet spot in a sell protected basin immediately off the ICW.
The dockmaster, Chris, is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the local area and birdlife.

We stopped here on our way home from a failed attempt to cross over to the Bahamas. What a pleasure to stop at a Marina that provides all the assistance needed to tie up safely. Another great feature about this Marina is it has the European Village within walking distance ( less than 15 minutes). Great choice of restaurants and food. The Marina is very protected and quiet. Their diesel prices were $1 less than any fuel we had purchased. On the morning of our departure we were helped off the dock at our appointed time. I highly recommend this Marina but you definitely need to give them a call as soon as you decide because they fill up fast.
Kudos to Chris and staff. Great dockside help with lines. Protected setting immediately adjacent to ICW. Little current and only 1.5 foot tidal range. 120 V shore power, unlike some other local marinas with <100 V. Excellent dockage rates as well. David Grimes
Great stop over! Clean restrooms showers, nice dog walk. Easy walk to restaurants and shops. The pizza at Mezzaluna Pizzeria is above average. Very little tide or current. Sheltered from high winds.
We stayed at Palm Coast, and found the staff very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to fit us in, and make our stay enjoyable. Nice facility, worth a visit.

It is clean and well run by a very friendly bunch of folks. It does appear to need some maintenance work, but the place was still a lot nicer than others we stayed at. And the cost was very reasonable too. We enjoyed the facilities and down time at Palm Coast.
Has become one of my regular stops – always good place to walk over to European village to MezaLunna for pizza. found out they’re not open on Mondays – otherwise pretty much as described above. If you’re getting fuel, I learned this year that there can be a current in that canal, my plan to dock was quickly thwarted by a surprising strong current running east, so turned around and got it figured out.
We stayed at Palm Coast Marina on the way up. Again, nice place but it doesn’t have near the amenities that your cruising guide says it once did. The pool and courtesy van that once took cruisers shopping are both gone. It is clean and well run but we were disappointed because the kids were really looking forward to swimming. Those things were the main reason that I chose to stay there. Oh well. Jennifer Clendinen
We just recently spent a month at Palm Coast Marina in northeast Florida. What a delight! The marina is very nice and the staff is superior. They have reasonably priced fuel and the fuel dock is shaded—small point but how many times have you thought you’d die fueling in Florida’s hot sun! It is within walking distance of European Village which has a lot of unique shops and great restaurants. It’s also located by a lovely walk/bike path that parallels the ICW. If you want luxury this is it. The marina guests have full access to all the luxury resort facilities, which are located on the beach about 1.5 miles away. We just finished our 4 day stay and enjoyed the whole facility – yes they took us to the main area in a Lincoln Towncar ( at no cost). Showers are natural stone and granite abounds. Don’t bring a towel, there are piles of towels there, as well as shampoo, soap and all the fixings,(it’s a luxury hotel). There is a pool at the Marina, and many others at the main resort which also has a water slide (Don’t need towels there either as they have them). The lounge is a common owners lobby and is as good as any luxury hotel I have seen. No it is not near shops and there is no gas (it’s nearby) but if you want to get a massage at a 5 star resort spa at a low cost and have a boat, this place is for you. It is relaxed and just fine for a few days R&R, so enjoy.
Yes, it is a first class facility, from the marina to the hotel and amenities. The marina, however, isn’t in walking distance to the hotel and its many amenities. When we were there two years ago, we had to rely on hotel transportation to and from the marina. They had no fuel on site, but were close to other facilities with fuel. Mike and Judi Wisniewski
This is a HIDDEN GEM on the ICW that is (relatively) unknown. First class marina (Bellingham floating docks) that is part of full-blown golf & beach resort (with free transportation between marina & beach/golf resort that is 2 miles away). Great stop if you are a family (beach, multiple pool complexes with water slides, kids activities program, etc) or golfer (2 superior 18 hole courses – Ocean course & Conservatory course). Several restaurants at the beach resort, too.
Not your typical ICW marina, but if you are looking for a few days to ‘get off the boat’ and enjoy a beach & golf resort this is about the best (and only?) you’ll find on the east coast of Florida.
Marina staff – Neil and Suzanne are very friendly and accommodating.
We stayed here over the long Thanksgiving weekend; checked in on Wednesday the 24th and out on Saturday the 27th. Paid $2.60/foot, including service charge and Florida tax, and were BLOWN AWAY by the place. For that price, you get a great spot at top of the line floating docks, excellent service (from Suzanne and Neil), the most beautiful shower/bathroom facility we have ever seen, a gorgeous pool on the marina side, free pump-out, AND full access to the resort amenities. You can use the resort pools and beach – towels provided – by using the (no extra charge) 24X7 shuttle service; you can dine at any of several restaurants, all very good, at several price points. Not a “bargain” spot, but worth every penny of the charge if you are looking for a little slice of paradise from the comfort of your very own boat.
8 May 2010. Our previous visit was in February when the marina officially opened. This time, the rate was higher but we experienced the full impact of the luxury on offer during a two-day visit, fully justifying, in our view, the $2.25/ft charge with only one minor extra charge. Electricity, wi-fi, access to the full resort, shuttle service and complimentary ice – a first – were included. A 25 lb bag nicely topped up our ice box. The extra charge was triggered by Hammock Beach Resort’s “no tipping” policy, with a 20% gratuity built into everything purchased at the resort. In the case of marina charges, I’m not sure who receives the gratuity, but the staff certainly aimed to please. Our $67.50/day docking charge (yes, they have a 30-ft minimum, which is a pet peeve, but it affects few cruising folks these days) resulted in a $7/day service charge. Now for the luxury… We have paid as much as $3.50/ft at other marinas that cannot hold a candle to what Hammock Beach offered. Showers, toilets and swimming pool are housed at a nearby condominium building. Towels at both the swimming pool and baths are provided. The uncrowded nature of the marina and condominium adds to the exclusivity. A 24×7 shuttle bus is available at your beck and call – for a cell phone call – to transport you to the main resort complex on the ocean side, a couple of miles away. The resort hotel is HUGE. Several restaurants are located in the complex. Neil, the marina manager, recommended the Atlantic Grill, with a panoramic view of the ocean. A qualified chef was obviously in charge, attested to by the cuisine not the price, which was reasonable, for lunch. You are provided with a card when you arrive at the marina that gives you “membership” status, equivalent to those staying at the resort. Restaurant charges and anything else purchased at the complex are charged to the card. A credit card, upon arrival, backs this up. For us, the numbers of people present at the resort were a bit overwhelming. Many were there for golfing. Families on holiday also proliferated. The marina area was more simpatico but it was interesting seeing how others spend their vacations and then to be able to return to the marina. As noted in the description, the shuttle bus passed a Publix on the way to the main resort and I was assured they would let us off and pick us up on a phone call, making this a truly special marina. In summary, everything at the marina seems ephemeral – take advantage of it while it is on offer. Hopefully, others passing through will provide updates on the current status. I have always depended on local knowledge from other cruisers for valuable updates. Austin Whitten
We went to the marina just south and on the east side of the ICW from Palm Coast, Hammock Beach Resort, a new condo-marina. No one responded to the VHF call or to a phone call so we pulled into a large, mostly empty marina, tied up and went looking for personnel. A person in charge, Neil, arrived and was quite welcoming, charging us $1.50/ft, electricity included, for a luxurious facility. The showers and toilets were in a nearby condominium building – towels included. Use of the condo swimming pool was also included. There was a shuttle bus to a restaurant in the main condo complex. We were passage-making so only stayed the night but it was a nice taste of luxury. Clearly the rates and availability will change as the condo fills up but for now, it’s an opportunity you may want to take advantage of. We recently hauled out at Westland for major work on our Beneteau Oceanis 321. New engine and new rudder. The staff at Westland are friendly, professional, and very accommodating. The boatyard is very tidy compared with other yards I've done business with. Jeff and Kyle at Boaters Edge always took time to answer my questions and kept me informed of any delays. (They were "parts in the mail issues." Not any foot dragging on their part). Kyle did the work of installing the new engine and he did an excellent job. While my wife and I did the work of procuring a new rudder Kyle did the work of installing it. Again, excellent work.
I highly recommend Westland Marina and Boaters Edge.
We had mechanical issues in Titusville that needed to be repaired. We recently purchased a (too) lightly used express cruiser we are moving from Florida to North Carolina. In Titusville, the starter on one of the engines failed and was fixed by Boater's Edge which resides in the same building as Westland Marina. Truly a collaborative arrangement. Westland Marina is under new ownership and they are as nice and accommodating as they can be. I pulled the boat in on a Saturday and made arrangements after hours on their emergency call line, and then contacted Boater's Edge that Monday. When I picked the boat up the next Friday all the work was done and I pulled out. Fuel issue. Came back. Jeff from Boaters Edge fixed it on the spot. Pulled out again. Circulating pump issue. Pulled in again. They had the part ordered and made arrangements to fix on the spot on Saturday – of Memorial Day Weekend no less – and got me up and on my way by 10am. Superb support and friendliness by Kyle and Jeff to get me back on the water again and headed north. I made 480 miles the next 3 days due to their overtime work and fast response! Also they helped with advice after the repair for my maintenance of it days later. Thanks Guys!
Although Westland Marine and Boater's Edge are separate businesses, they work collaboratively to help boaters. Sean the nice marina manager has a really friendly Labrador who will play fetch while you wait and the lounge, shower, laundry, and restrooms are spotless and comfortable. Westland is generally a DIY yard and very lively with activity. Many useful stores (grocery, pharmacy, fast food) within a 20-minute walk, and a great ACE Hardware (with marine parts) is a 2 mile Uber/Lyft ride in the Florida heat.

This was a fun place to stop for a couple days and wait for weather to pass. They have a well-marked channel (although with a strong current), and spectacular floating concrete docks that were easy to tie up to. The marina has great bathrooms and laundry, but the location is even better. They have a huge Saturday morning farmers market where you can stock up any fresh groceries you’d want, plus at least a dozen restaurants within a few blocks. We ate at 121 Tapas on the Water, and loved it. There’s an Enterprise car rental a mile away if you need it. There’s a manatee education center right next to the marina, an art museum, and some exhibits about Zora Neale Hurston (I didn’t know she was an anthropologist, in addition to being a writer) and about the Highwaymen (a school of local artists). This was a lovely marina, and a great place to spend a couple of days!
I stayed at the Newly Rebuilt Marina last weekend, May23, and it is truly a beautiful Marina. I stayed there numerous times before the Hurricane destroyed it. The staff is great, the floating docks are great, and the local restaurant are wonderful. Capt Dan Pinder
7/11 Food Store is now open! One block from the Marina! The 7/11 is open 24 hours, so when you get that craving for an ice cream, or late night sandwich you now have somewhere to go without having to jump in your car or call a taxi. Anne Maurer Fort Pierce City Marina
Good Place! $1.50/per foot. Restaurant as said previously was fabulous! Came in excellent inlet after night of pounding to beat cold front and gale force winds. Stayed extra night and then heading to the keys for the winter. Publix is within walking distance for me (I’m a walker anyway). WARNING: they are doing barge work and we were first boat in apparently. It did not go smooth. They have a temporary channel right after fixed bridge (going south). Had to talk to barge and then marina. The directions were not perfect over the radio BUT they sent a small boat to lead the way. When they get the new breakwater finished, it will be nearly perfect.
Nice marina, very courteous staff, welcome respite after an overnight sail from Miami. The only issue we had was we barely got in here because of their channel depth. As we were entering yesterday, the depth finder hit 5.5′ twice, that’s what our boat draws, luckily we made it in though. Now I am stuck in the slip because it is low tide (about mid tide when I came in yesterday), and I should be underway right now. My advice, if your boat draws more than about 4′, pay close attention to the tides at this marina. Other than that, it is a wonderful place to stay and the Tiki Bar is awesome. Restroom/shower facilities are top notch.
One other word of caution, the current rips across their entrance channel which makes it even more challenging to stay in the “deep” water, a term I use lightly. David S/V Double Decker
Finishing up a great weekend at Ft Pierce (Party) Marina. Friday was a great Street Party “Friday Fest” 65 Vendors with crafts and food. Saturday a Great Farmers Market in the Parking lot. Biggest one we have seen. Sunday we had a front row seat to the local Christmas Parade from our slip F11 which fronted the parade route. Leaving Monday a.m. for Palm Beach, MM1012 and then Biscayne Bay for the Hawk Channel to Marathon for the winter. Hope these cold fronts get fewer as the weeks move on Capt Bob Kovach
Ft. Pierce City Marina – Ft. Pierce, FL, ICW 966. This is our southern destination. We stay here for at least 2 months each winter. It is just off of the Indian River, very accessible, and has an excellent inlet to the Atlantic Ocean. The “old town” city center of activity is at the marina! There is a weekly farmer’s market, parades, monthly old car rallies, motorcycle rallies, great restaurants, shopping, and all other necessary services. This marina is really well managed, with an excellent staff, and is a terrific stop for ocean/ICW travelers.
Hello all: Palmetto Moon with Su, Jim, and Alex (the lazy cat) are in Ft. Pierce City Marina. Good facility with very knowledge people and easy bus service to Publix, Lowes, and CVS. Looks like we will stay here for a looooog time. Temp. as of this writing is 78 and a low of 68 tonight. Safe travels Jim
Subject: Harbor Cove Restaurant – Ft Pierce Cruising News: Fabulous Restaurant alert! We were at Harbor Town Marina in Ft Pierce last night and the restaurant there, Harbor Cove Restaurant was a true and wonderful surprise. We had “dirty Oysters” to start which were fresh and large raw oysters topped with sour cream, caviar and onions. The oysters were fresh and truly incredible. Prime Rib was the special which was so good that this morning I am kicking myself for not getting a portion to take home for lunch today. (take THAT Coinjock!) And the Mussels with pasta were some of the best mussels I\’ve had outside of Maine. All of this, 2 beers and a drink for $55. Friendly and helpful staff, and locals were terrific. And as far as the marina goes, also terrific. Grounds are beautifully maintained, loaner bikes, they will arrange for Enterprise…very helpful in every way. Electric was good, docks well maintained. This is an absolute must stop for us on our commute up and down the coast. Stacy Schmetterer
My wife and I have always enjoyed staying at the Fort Pierce City Marina when ever we traveled up or down the east coast. It’s right in the down town area and the city seems to always have something going on on the week ends. Don’t know what the rates are now but they were the best in the area. Nice showers and laundry rooms and great restaurants right at the docks shopping near by. Tom
Hello all: t has been said that Ft. Pierce, FL City Marina (mm 965) is a great place to stay, but has poor transportation service for the boating community to shop and re-supply. Palmetto Moon is in Ft Pierce, it is a great place, clean, great staff, 14 restaurants in a 4 block area, well protected, a BIG Farmers Market and arts/crafts tents every Saturday, 4 washers/dryers (1.00), and concerts in the park adjacent to the marina. Su and I have unraveled the bus issues. There are 2 types of transportation services offered: 1. A scheduled route, Treasure Coast Connector, that runs North and South on US 1, appox. every 30 min. However these stops are 4 blocks from the marinas. So if you do full shopping/re-provisioning the schlepping becomes a huge task. 2. The Community Transit System. A true door-to-door route (no set route) that you must make reservations for pick up. This service works very well for heavy shopping. But, takes appox. 3.5 – 4 hours to complete your round trip. This service is more complicated to use, as you must register in advance of your shopping plans and then call 24 hours before, to schedule a pick-up. This service is not one that can be utilized on the day of arrival without registering in advance. To register before arrival call 772-464-7433. This system uses computer routing, the exact address is required both for pick-up and destination. To get around this we go to the office, get the add. then make the call. Downside issues: A. If the bus is crowded they can limit the carry-ons to 4 bags per person B. Pick-up time is sometime after 8 AM (remember no set route) normally around 8:30 – 8:45 and continues to pick-up and drop-off until your stop. C. If Wal-Mart is your destination add 1.5 – 2 hours to your trip. D. Normal shopping to Wal-Mart (Tues.) and Publix (Thurs.) Jim Cobb Palmetto Moon – Ocean Alexander-423
All my charts show the entrance channel SOUTH of marker 188. Somehow I have the feeling that it has changed. Can some one give me a heads up as what to expect & where it is located Thanks Larry
Larry: The Ft. Pierce City Marina website right now says the following: “A new entrance channel located 1/8th mile past South Bridge and past the concrete telephone poles is now open. Contact us on VHF radio: channels 16 & 09 GPS coordinates: 27 26.56 N Latitude, 80 19.21 W Longitude” That position is near the basin entrance. NOAA chart 11475 shows the original channel leaving the ICW south of marker 188 as you say, although there is a deep area south of the bridge and near the west bank of the bay that appears navigable if you can get to it. However, it does NOT show any other marked channel. I suggest you call the marina to confirm: (800) 619-1780. Failing contact with them, BoatUS or SeaTow will know. I am looking at the online version of the NOAA chart, corrected to latest NM and LNM. For clarity, my information is NOT local knowledge… G’luck, Bill

Subject: Fort Pierce City Marina Cruising News: We arrived on the 12th. The channel marks can be (are) confusing. After chatting with the marina on 09, it became clear (if not explained). Mark #3 and #4 have the opposite coloration of all the rest of the marks in the entrance channel. The colors are unimportant. What is important is going between the marks (watch for side set). Treat them as if they had the colors of the remaining marks. We arrived an hour and a half after high tide and saw 6.5 feet minimum and 22 feet maximum on the way in. This is a very nice place. If you can get the last slip on D dock, you can refuel and pump out from the slip! Chris Waln
We’re headed south at the moment but wanted to plug the Fort Pierce City Marina, complete with Boat US discounts on both fuel and dockage. On Saturday mornings they have one of the best farmers’ markets you’ll see: baked goods, fruits, vegetables, fresh seafood, unbelievable guacamole, jams, crafts, etc. They also have lots of free festivals with live music, and the marina staff, town folk and permanent dock dwellers (including two former Loopers) are all exceptionally friendly. Stayed here April 7 -8, 2012. We have friends here and tied up near the end of the pier, close to the trees on the cigar-shaped island that separates the marina from the canal. If you react to no-see-ums as my wife does, use muchas bug spray.
This marina has fixed docks but there is no tide here thanks to NASA who built a lock system to keep the sea off their property.
Manatee frequent the marina and gators and sharks have been spotted.
Watch your speed as you approach the Christa McAuliffe Bridge, (the tenders offensively call it the “Rt 3 bridge” saving 3 whole syllables). The tender might scold you and tell you that you are too late for the opening for which you were on time. She also doesn’t seem to monitor 9 until you are approaching and scold you for not calling sooner.
There is a friendly group of live-aboards here and dock parties happen frequently.
Currently, they are running a $0.75 per night (two nights only) special.
Harbortown Marina is one of the nicest marinas around. That being said, there’s not much to see or do on the waterways around there. We live close by and cruise the barge canal regularly. Nautical spirits bar and restaurant is great for dinner, but there is nothing else around within walking distance. There is a Publix about 5 miles down the road, and a Wal-Mart about 8 miles, if one wanted to cab it. Or you’re about 10 minutes from the beach at Jetty Park from there as well. Too bad there’s only a couple of more shuttles to launch, because this is a great area to watch from. If you get a chance to see one in the next month or so, don’t miss your chance.
Really liked the welcome at Harbortown Marina. They had a special of $.85/foot in November, for up to two days, then $1.00/foot. Very protected. Nice restaurant on site. Not close to any shopping, though, and no courtesy car.

Message: Don’t know if you will want to post this or not, but we just came thru the Banana River from Harbortown Marina to Vero Beach.
Harbor Town is a remote nice, inexspensive Marina, whith reasonable fuel rates. Paid $3.63 plus tax, and $1 a foot for transient.Has a nice bar/resturant on property.
Beyond that, There isn\’t much I can say about the Banana River. It\’s wide, nothing to see, nowhere to go, and shallow, very shallow. and ill marked. I will visit Harbor town again but not the Banana River.

Just about the best fuel prices on FL east coast are at Harbortown Marina, mm 894 on the ICW, just north of the Cocoa bridge. Turn east off the channel onto the Canaveral Barge Canal and run 2 1/2 miles to the marina on the south shore. $1.00/ft dockage with BoatUS. You may get a fuel discount (10 cents/gal) if you stay there.
