Village Brewhouse Opens for Business December 6, 2018 at Fishermen’s Village

Kurt Brown has spent his professional lifetime in the restaurant business, more than 30 years
holding every position conceivable within the industry from dishwasher to manager. The only
title he’s not held is that of the Owner, until now. Kurt is proud to announce that he is the
proprietor of Village Brewhouse located at Fishermen’s Village (formerly Scotty’s Brewhouse).
Beyond just changing the restaurant name, Kurt is changing the entire guest experience by
eliminating the cold, profit-only corporate culture that comes with chain restaurants and
replacing it with local, sensible and passionate small business management that focuses
entirely on outstanding hospitality and value. Brown said, “My wife, Cindy, and I moved to Punta
Gorda to open and manage a restaurant – we moved here for a job. It didn’t take long before we
fell in love with this community and decided that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives here.
We are investing our hearts and souls into Village Brewhouse and the community we serve.”
Since their arrival in Punta Gorda, the Browns have been active in the community volunteering
with Habitat for Humanity and with Kurt also serving on the Board for the Charlotte County
Culinary Program and as Treasurer of the Fishermen’s Village Merchant Association. Brown
said, “My focus is on the community and all things local – from sourcing local beers and food
items to employing nearly 100 local individuals who make up the Village Brewhouse “family”. I
am beyond excited to have the freedom now to run my restaurant, Village Brewhouse, without
the shackles of corporate mandates coming from many miles away.”
