Allison was great help today when we needed fuel. Easy in and easy out. Seemed other boaters had a hard time understanding the No Wake zone signs but other than that, a great stop!

I had some troubles with a new-to-me boat. The guys at the fuel dock were wonderful! They helped me get a diver on a Sunday morning. I got some issues fixed and hung around for the tide to change to head up the Cape Fear. Nothing but help and smiles from the guys!!!

“This is a big marina within a convenient walk to the town of Southport. Dock staff were very polite and helpful. Bathrooms clean and convenient. Marina was generally calm and peaceful. Very little exposure to passing wakes and dock staff made it a point to radio passing boats to remind them of the no wake zone if a boat appeared to be approaching too quickly. Easy access to cute tourist town makes this a definite spot to come back to again.”

      Captain: RDO,

The marina is very well maintained. The floating docks are nice and long so you can go bow in if you prefer. It is located in the heart of the nice seaside town of Southport. Many restaurants of all shapes, sizes and taste all walking distance from marina. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable. We planned to stay one night but did two to relax a little before moving on the Loop. Only down side is groceries are not handy.

We came in here after passing by several times. They just completed dredging the marina after 6 years and we had plenty of depth. Helpful staff, well maintained docks, and clean restrooms. Town and restaurants a short walk nearby. A big plus for us was Zimmerman Marine. We’ve had intermittent issues with our thrusters for 2 years and many $$ wasted with various yards to no avail. “J” at Zimmerman solved it to our delight!

Hoping you guys are ready for Florence? Good luck! Even though they were very busy, they got us in for a few nights while we cleaned up a prop issue with local divers J&J Boat Services. Both the marina staff and Justin the diver were terrific. Went out of there way to get us back on the trip North. The town of Southport is pretty cool. Wonderful restaurants and great historic downtown. Marina power and WiFi were strong, clean floating docks and a genuinely friendly atmosphere. Definitely will be back here again.

“Hank Pomeranz and his nightly briefings are a must for any ICW experience”, 2018-5-14
      Captain: Cathy Marco
      5- Stars
This is the third time we have stayed at this excellent marina on our way “up or down the ICW”. The reason we come back is because of Hank Pomeranz. He presents the evening “AICW Navigation for NC and SC and Weather” briefing which is amazingly helpful. It alleviates a lot of the anxiety and gives suggestions on how to handle problem areas. Tonight a dozen of us attended his briefing and were delighted that his information is always current “as of today” with features and photos. He is worth every penny that Zimmerman Marine, Carolina Yacht Care and Southport Marina contribute to sponsor this very valuable service. Thank you!!!!!

“First Class All The Way”, 2018-5-6

      Captain: rwidman

This is a first class operation. Everything is commercial grade, relatively new and clean and in good repair. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. It’s not too long a walk to town and it’s an interesting town to visit. Yes, more showers would be nice. That’s about the only fault I can find. I didn’t have to wait but my wife did. 5/18 – It’s always a pleasure to stop here. The staff is friendly and professional and it’s still a first class operation.

The ONLY negative about this marina is that at times it can be exposed to wind-generated wave action. Otherwise, the entire staff is very professional and willing to accommodate. Facilities such as the showers, laundry room, ship store, fuel dock, picnic and gathering areas are extremely well looked after. The downtown area is a convenient walk to the North Carolina Maritime Museum, cafes, stores, and numerous restaurants. A great location to have friends or family come to spend some time with you while you’re cruising.

Yes this place costs more (but not outrageous). But the location can’t be beat if you want to see Southport, or just eat out.

If you arrive when the dock crew is there, you are in luck as the guys are the best and very skilled. They try to leave the south facing open till the last as it is easiest to get into unassisted if the dock crew have gone home. This spot can be a little rocky as it is open to the ICW and the south breeze, so use use a few extra bumpers for a peaceful night.

The laundry was clean and working. Wifi at the end of the dock was weak, but OK up by the laundry (if you want to stream a movie while the cloths cycle through the wash.)

      Wifi strength was only complaint.

Not only is this marina well appointed and close to town, the staff is amazingly helpful. Not to be missed is a FREE seminar each night on what to expect in navigating the Cape Fear River and the ICW up to Norfolk. Hank gives full weather forecasts and areas to beware of for your trip. These seminars are every night for two weeks in the spring and again in the fall.

Celebrate the beauty that is Fall with these super simple two ingredient Apple Cider Mimosas.

      3 ounces apple cider
      3 ounces champagne
Brown sugar and apple slices for garnish, optional
      Instructions
Pour the apple cider into a champagne flute, followed by the champagne. Serve immediately!
      Notes
If you’d like to rim and garnish the drink, take a thin apple slice (that has been treated with either lemon juice or fruit preserver to prevent browning), and make a 1/2″ slice in the middle. Slide the apple slice onto the rim of the glass, and run around rim to dampen. Remove the apple slice, then dip the rim of the glass in a shallow bowl of brown sugar. Place the apple slice back on the edge of the glass, then fill with drink.
