    • [EXPIRED] Report on the Wharf Marina

The Wharf is a new marina located on the ICW canal that flows west to Mobile Bay. I have not yet visited here, but Brenda and Todd's note below is only the latest report on this "Northern Gulf" page of the Net which lauds this facility as well worthy of the cruising community's attention!

      Morning Again,
This information is late getting to you because Brenda & I had some In-Law medical issues that we had to attend to these past few weeks.
I have included Capt. Randy Presthus, the Dockmaster at The Wharf, in this email so if I have made any mistakes he can correct me…..or just send you more information if needed. We pulled into the Wharf last month so I could get you some information for your cruising guides/web pages on this wonderful new marina which is located at MM 158 of the GIWW, just west of the new Foley Beach Express Bridge.  Randy likes to refer to the new marina as "A multi-use development anchored by the Wharf Marina.  The marina's phone number is 251-224-1901.

      The Wharf has the following
      All floating docks:
Fuel-gas, premium, diesel.  10' approach to the fuel dock…..Randy tells me that his fuel will always be less expensive than Lulu's.
      WiFi
      Cable TV at all slips
      Ships Store & restaurant
      $2.00 per foot per night
208 slips, 18 of the slips have 220-3-phase power, the rest of the slips have 50, 30, 20 amp service
      Laundry& pump-out.
The area adjacent to the marina has many, many restaurants & retail shops, there is also a 15 screen movie-plex next door.  Randy tells me that if a cruiser wants to pull into the marina to shop or go out for a meal and/or movie there is no charge to tie up for that time, "However you must be off the dock by evening or you will be charged the nightly rate."  The Wharf will also be having a Summer Concert Series with many big name bands, if you want to come to one of the concerts by boat you are welcome to tie up at the marina during the show, cost will be $25.00.  Once again you must be out of the marina when the concert
ends or pay the nightly rate of $2.00 per foot.  Their website is www.thewharfal.com for more information about the marina and also the concert schedule.
Randy, who has spent time as a full time cruiser, seems very committed to not only the local slip owners but to us fellow cruisers.
If you need anymore info please don't hesitate to send Randy an email at the above address.
