[EXPIRED] Missing Marker in Darien River, west of AICW Statute Mile 655
The missing aid to navigation, described below, will affect cruisers leaving the Waterway and taking the pleasant side trip to Darien, GA. Take note of the “bend of the river” mentioned below. Marker #26 denotes the north side of a very narrow channel in the Darien River, 5 nautical miles west of Little Mud River and the AICW.
GEORGIA-ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY-SAVANNAH RIVER TO ST SIMONS SOUND-DARIEN RIVER: Hazard to Navigation.
The Coast Guard received a report of Darien River DBN 26 (LLNR 36827.2) is damaged and missing dayboards. The remains of the pile are 3ft above water at high tide. The DBN is on a bend of the river. Mariners are advised to use extreme caution while transiting the area. Chart 11507
Marker R26 between ICW and Darien GA has been replaced by CG with a lighted red floating marker. Also .. pay attention to R12 which may seem too close to marsh but IS NOT! Go slow and pay attention. 48 hrs free dockage for cruisers. Ya’ll come!
