Unfortunately, it appears the survey is getting the results that some wanted. A 150-foot anchoring setback distance was the most popular measurement, but there was no choice on the survey for zero distance–in other words no legally mandated setback distance. A distance of 150 feet if measured from the outer edge of a complete 360-degree swinging circle, would essentially eliminate anchoring in many south Florida spots along the ICW. It would also be extremely difficult to measure on the water accurately. What if the wind were blowing offshore from the southeast like it does a lot of the time there? You could be 300 feet from shore yet with a wind shift your swinging circle might violate the 150-foot setback they are proposing. Very difficult to comply with in the tight anchorages in the area.
