Canaveral Barge Canal, with a single 600X90ft lock, crosses Cape Canaveral and Merritt Island and intersects the Waterway at statute mile 894. After construction in June and a lightning strike in July, Canaveral Lock has experienced a number of schedule changes this year. Our thanks to Officer Skolte for this update.
Notice is given that Canaveral Lock will have scheduled 4 hour lock closures Monday through Friday, October 17-28, 2016, 7:30-11:30 a.m. and 12-4 p.m. to support Divers repairing Manatee protection screens on all 4 sector gates. This maintenance is necessary to protect the health and safety of Florida’s manatee population traveling through the lock facility. For up-to-date Canaveral Lock information, contact the shift operator at 321-783-5421 between 6 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
