Shelter Cove is located in a man-made cove on the southeastern shores of Broad Creek in Hilton Head Island near creek markers #22 and #23. Broad Creek departs the Waterway on the eastern shore of Calibogue Sound just as the Waterway turns west into the Copper River.
SOUTH CAROLINA – PORT ROYAL SOUND – HILTON HEAD: Dredge Operations
Marcol Dredging has commenced dredging in the vicinity of Shelter Cove Marina on Hilton Head Island in Beaufort County, South Carolina. The dredging will take place in the Shelter Cove Marina basin and in the entrance channel to the marina. The work will be performed with a hydraulic dredge CAPTAIN LEO operations will be 24/7 basis. The dredged material will be transported via pipeline to the Confined Disposal Facility located approximately 0.9 miles northeast of the Shelter Cove Marina. The work is anticipated to last through the end of April, 2018. All vessels transiting this area are advised to operate at a safe speed and maintain a lookout for plant, pipe, tugs, and work boats.
