      The “Ponce” is a popular, heavily traveled inlet which intersects the Waterway at Statute Mile 839.5, with a second southerly intersection near St. M. 843. This long-term dredging project in this inlet is always welcomed.

      FLORIDA – TOLOMATO RIVER TO PALM SHORES – PONCE DE LEON INLET: Dredge Operations
      Cavache Inc. will commence dredge operations just over four miles in the AICW in the vicinity of Ponce De Leon Inlet in Volusia County, Florida. The operation will include the discharge of sediments into an off shore disposal area approximately two miles south of the inlet and approximately 1000 foot off shore. Mobilization of equipment and pipeline set up is expected to begin in the July 10, 2018 and dredging approximately August 2018. The dredge will be disposing of the material via floating, submerged and landward pipelines at an off shore disposal area, as well as, the USACE District owned MSA 434 Site. Portions of the pipeline closest to the dredge will remain floating and will be marked with flashing lights at night. The remaining pipeline will run on the beach or will be submerged. Mariners are urged to stay clear of the area between the beach and the dredge to avoid potential interference with the pipeline. Mariners are also urged to take caution around working vessels and keep wake to a minimum. The dredge MAYA CAELYN will monitor VHF channels 16, 79 and 13. Project approximate completion May 20, 2019.
