[EXPIRED] LNM: UPDATE: Dredging Underway, Lockwoods Folly Problem Stretch, NC AICW Statute Mile 321
This dredging project is good news for Spring migration. The Problem Stretch was last dredged in March of 2019 and has been the subject of numerous buoy relocations to accommodate channel shifts.
NC – ATLANTIC INTRACOASTAL WATERWAY – LOCKWOODS FOLLY – DREDGING
UPDATED END DATE. The Dredge BETTIE G II will be conducting dredging operations until approximately 19 Feb 2020 at Lockwood’s Folly Inlet crossing in North Carolina. Shoal material will be removed from Tangent 11 and the channel widener located on the ocean side. Dredged material will be pumped thru 20-inch pipeline that will extend onto beach at Holden Beach. The dredge can be contacted on Channel 16 and 67. There will be numerous buoys, anchors and pipelines within the channel and mariners are requested to pass at a slow speed and use caution. Update: All the dredging is due to be completed by 3/30/2020! from ICW Cruising Guide by Bob423
The Wilmington Dredging plans are attached which were just awarded and the dredge now underway at Lockwoods Folly. The dredge will follow the old channel to return it to 12 MLLW and 150 ft wide. From the graphic, you can see all the additional sites on the list:
